Build your dream, custom rifle

I would build a 10.75x68 on a Browning/Winchester 1895 action. I'd use a 24" medium weight Lothar barrel, fitted with Recknagel 2 leaf express sights and band swivel, a generous forend and buttstock to hold on to, with less drop, 14 1/4" pull, leather recoil pad on fancy dense grain European walnut with 20 lines per inch checkering. I'd have the sight regulated to dead on at 100 and 200 for a load of 400 gr projectile at 2100 fps.

Griffin & Howe 404 Jeffery based on pre 64 Winchester model 70 . Gh side mount, s & b zenith 1-4, Lyman 48 peep sight that does not need to be removed in order to facilitate scope. It’s a dreamy rig, compact given the power level, easy to carry all day, ridiculously accurate.

I have absolutely nothing against the big names in the industry, but what I would genuinely cherish would be a 404J M98, or a Lee Speed, done up by VG. I’m trying to get pretty near the 404 myself, but I’d burn rubber if even his old 404 surfaced. I like him enough to not even ask if he’d build another, import/export troubles aside.

Just got this one delivered by Parkwest Arms
They did a Great Job
Hi Kilo, Beautiful rifle, a work of art! in your picture it looks like one barrel caliber is 0.375 and the other is 0.300. I noticed on the parkwest page they mentioned you can get another barrel but in the caliber family, I wasn’t sure what that meant. Do you know if that meant any 0.3xx that requires a long action?

Well, if I won a large lottery prize, I think I'd pay a visit to Griffin & Howe. I'd like to own two of their rifles.

Good for you, Man! Make it happen!

Who would you reccomend for restocking a rifle? Like, oh I don't know, a Ruger No.1 is 9.3x74R.

I had a thing for belly's, just for aesthetics alone. W.J.'s Fiberglass, Tim's Octagon Barrel (Duane Weibe) .. View attachment 716930

This PH's 470 Capstick, on the right .. I think that's magnificent.

Or any thing bigger ( 416 Rigby )
They will build just two barrels

Sounds very much like the 505 which I commissioned and am about to pick up . GMA action . Express sights only ( will fit a small 3 point diamond on front sight - great against dark hides and in low light ). Krieger 24 inch barrel . Orange rubber recoil pad . Wood work done be Ross Waghorn ( Australia’s No1 stocker - now retired ) ebony used for from of stock . He selected the walnut for me . Ross fitted the rifle to me - 14.5 inch LOP , I don’t recall cast dimension . A little engraving ( no game scenes ) by Ray Croxon. The barrel has been machined to take 600grain Woodleigh bullets and Hydrostats . It takes 3+1 rounds. Bob de Vries in Melbourne did all the metal work and project management . Not sure of final weight but it is likely 10.5 pounds + . Can’t wait to take possession and shoot .
Pics please.

Ok, Dreamer or Captain Realistic, build your dream rifle. No off the shelf rifles or of if they are, they better have a ton of customized components.

Ideally, you pick the caliber and then put components together for your "dream" custom safari gun. Barrel from precision research or Bruz or? Action from who? Synthetic stock or wood from a specific stock maker. Rings and optics?
@Hornedfrogbbq
Browning 78 single shot hight wall.
Quarter turn interrupt thread ,tapered octagon barrels made by McGowan 25 inches long
Calibres
22-250, 25-06 and 35 Whelen
Barrel mounted Meopta optica 5 scopes in 2-10X44.
Undo forend screw, turn barrel 1/4 turn to remove then replace with new barrel complete with scope, attach forend and go hunt
Simple and elegant.
Bob

Best custom rifle with money no object.
A holland and holland 9.3x74r or a 450/400
just tell them to make the best rifle you can that fits me.

Now more real world and useful for my hunting now.
A browning blr 30-06 take down.
Re barrel to 35w probably 20in barrel with the twist for best use with a 300gr bullet.
With very nice black wallnut
I would want a few magazines built to hold 10 rounds.
And would love to go on a water buff cull to really test it out
@Flbt
1:12 twist will handle the 310s.
No need for a 10 shot mag the standard will do nicely unless engaging multiple targets.
The Whelen will handle water buff no worries just Stoke those 310s to 2,400fps and go have fun.
Bob
