I’m finishing up bleaching a nice hard bossed bull with a 39” spread. I’d appreciate some input on a nice way to display the trophy. I personally feel the horns sweep to far back to make a euro mount possible. I’ve got another one displayed loose on a table, that works well, but not sure what to do with a second one.

Please post some pictures. Thanks,

Dewald

Life-Form has a couple of pictures of Euro Shield Table-Top mounts. Rear of skull is elevated a few inches, which looks good to me. I'm leaning heavily in that direction. Checking with Bullseye Taxidermy, (who I plan to use this year), they say it won't be a problem.

I'm at the range right now, but can post a pic later if needed.

Here's what I did. If you're interested I can send you details on how to make similar mount with more photos. I used pine with pecan stain because it matches wood trim. I also used plywood as a base attached to skull. Could have used more aesthetic dimension lumber but was concerned it might split under the weight. A darker wood or stain might be nicer.

Don't mount buffalo skulls flat against the wall. That way they look more like something that should be wearing a yoke and slogging around in a rice paddy. As I recall, these are both about 45 degrees angle.

Thanks @shootist~, I’d appreciate a picture. My one is also a table top display. I’m just not sure I have space fore another, but might end up that route.

Thank you Sir. I’ll take some measurements. The foramen magnum is about 8 or 9” from the wall when the horns touch. I’m not sure how a big block mount or such a long scull hook will look

I did something very similar to this. Just mounted with the nose straight down the wall.

I bought a Skull Hooker Big Hooker (something like that) to mount my buff - works quite well. Super easy to mount

Here is a picture of my wife’s buffalo mount. It’s sitting on the sideboard in our great room.

Quite a sweep back on that bull, for sure. Both mine have foeamen magnum only a couple inches from the wall when hanging. Tipping yours at 45 degrees might bring the skull a little closer to the wall but not much. Skull Hooker might be better as those can be adjusted to hang the skull quite a ways from wall.

Thank you for all the pictures. I’ll play around a bit with ideas and post pictures when I’m done

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
