Dear all,

For the next hunting season I am going back to BENIN, west Africa.
I already posted the packages on the deal section.
I am just thinking that it should be a great opportunity for bowhunters to experience this part of Africa and buffalo hunting by calling. I am not an expert on bow at all, but I already took bowhunters on buffalo hunt and my experience on calling buffalo is just 15 years... They all shot their buffalo at less than 20 yards.
This is a very exciting hunt. We pick up the fresh tracks and follow them until we get to the herd. By calling,as you can see on the video, they come very close, up to 10 yards... very impressive and exciting.

Watch the video:

For the other game we can hunt by spot and stalk or over a blind or tree stand.

For more details, please feel free to contact me.

Best
Christophe

That is a great video Christophe! I've seen your package on the deal page and I'm considering a buffalo, roan, and plains game hunt in 2018.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks. Yes it shows how they react at the call. Trust me it is a very exciting hunt, you get very close...

That is super cool! I had no idea western buff would react to calling that way. That looks like a very exciting way to hunt. It reminds me a bit of how we rattle in whitetail during the rut here in Texas. Out of curiosity are Lord Derby Eland in Benin as well? I apologize for my ignorance but I'm just not that familiar with that part of Africa. Benin doesn't seem ( again my ignorance) that far away from Cameroon. A hunt like this seems right up my alley and you have definitely put this hunt on my list for the future with this and previous posts.

Gizmo,
Sure it is cool to hunt buffalo that way. I shoot about 85% of them by calling. And believe me with a bow it is really spectacular... I also do it in Tanzania with cape buffalo, same reaction.

Benin is not far from Cameroon, on the west. No eland there.

I think 75/80 Ibs is enough. You know by calling you can get very close, sometimes less than 10 yards !!!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
