Big Bore Addiction Group

:A Blowup: :A Gathering: I told you guys there was no way Matt could resist shootin' that big sumbitch!

Right. He more a man than I. It wod suck to be more scared of the rifle than the 2k lb buff bearing down on you. The fella shooting that canon was a fairly large gentleman and you could tell he was a bit scared of the rifle!

That's gotta be like crack or heroin for Matt, right? :sneaky::)

i tried to cook up a .585" 750gr TSX in a spoon but couldnt get it to melt enough to get into the needle! :p

im willing to shoot any gun as long as i see someone else shoot it first.

I like your disclaimer there Matt.

it would be my luck that someone would ask me to shoot a 6 pound rifle chambered in 577 T-rex. :S Lol:

Right. I don't think I'd want to shoot a 22lb 577 t-Rex.

I have a really bad shoulder and my little 416 is about the top of my recoil tolerance these days. I still want a 458 Lott just to say I have one but I figure I can load it down to make it tolerable for me.

Gizmo I wonder what a 458 Lott would do to one of the pigs out on your ranch?

Me too I would quite enjoy finding out.

next year, id be down for some piggy hunting. a big bore piggy shoot sounds like a grand time if we can find a time to meet up!

Started with a .340 Weatherby (I know, this is a baby bore) and then moved up to the .378 Weatherby. I'm still licking my wounds from the .378. When my nuts decide to drop again I plan to move up the Weatherby chain to a .416...in the meantime I've been eyeing a few different .375 H&H

welcome 85Tecate!

those Weatherby cartridges can be a real handful! im still not sure what people want all that velocity for but to each his own. in the meantime i recommend the 416 Rigby or its younger cousin the 416 Rem Mag. both the Rigby and the Rem Mag will easily bring down any game on the planet.

Guys I feel like I hit the lottery today. I was in Academy Sports looking for some boots for my son to go to Africa in here in June. I naturally had to go by the ammo isles and they had 375 H&H for sale. 35$ a box! Its cheapo federal 270 grain loads but hey, least I got something to shoot now! I also ordered a Nikon 2-7 scope and some CZ scope rings this afternoon from amazon. I'll be lettin lead fly from the new 550 by next week! The ammo, I thought, was a smokin deal. I may go back and buy the rest they have at that price. I bought 100 rounds.

Matt I've really had my eye on the 458 Lott CZ 550 too, I'm having difficulty though because if I save for a while longer I may be able to swing a double in 450/400 or a 470 NE. Decisions, decisions.

I like that idea as well, the only thing that makes that a hard one to swallow is I can go back to Africa and hunt for what one costs.

Sure, it just depends what your after. A springbuck slam less taxidermy would fit in that. 10k is also half or more of a leopard hunt which is what my next one will be.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
