Congrats for a great hunt, and a very nice reedbuck, just what I am looking for :daydreaming:

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you sir, much appreciated! Hope you get a stunner!

Congratulations! A stunning animal, and it must be so much sweeter that he made you work for it! I'm incredibly jealous of your experience! You have inspired me to give a Reedbuck a try with a bow next time I go home, that's for sure.

I completely agree about the Natal Midlands being one of South Africa's best kept secrets. I grew up in the area and I make no exaggerations when I say a 14 inch Reedbuck was about par for the course(ie I came to expect an opportunity on a Roland Ward Reedbuck on any given day hunting). I have hunted Roland Ward Reedbuck in the Eston/Mid Illovo area, Underberg, Richmond and the Midlands. I can't recommend giving the area a go if you want the Reedbuck hunt of a lifetime(like the one above)!

By the way, is that bow a Tribute?

Hi there Primo,

Thanks so much, yeah it is hard to believe the incredible numbers and quality of the Reedbuck in the Midlands, although challenging terrain to hunt with the bow on foot one is spoilt for choice when it comes to trophies. The hunt for that ram is one I cherish and perhaps one day I'll return to give it another go as they make for superb table fare. (Yeah back then I was shooting a 80# Tribute).

All the best and I hope you score on a monster of a ram! I know there are still a few 17" and 18" monsters out there, hope you put a arrow in one when you get home!

Great read and awesome pics...any reedbuck is such a neat animal to harvest with a bow. Very cool!

Here's the target for the NorthForks - 25yds off a bag, iron sights. Hunting leopards over dogs the range won't be more than that.

Flew in an airshow in Smyrna years ago, beautiful country.

Best regards,

Franco
