I can’t find any info on these. I’d appreciate any help with this.

I think they were the Frankonia house brand in Germany. Forest Favorit. Different makers over the years. The picture you posted is likely an FN action or similar, not a sporterized military. Good quality
Look up or post the proof marks

Yes this is correct.

There are Forest Favorites in every Mauser commercial and military conversion configuration available. Some made by Voere, some made by others. I am not sure where the current conversions are made.

Thanks to everyone for this information, it’s greatly appreciated. Here’s a photo of the actual rifle I found locally. It’s chambered in 308 Win. I’m wondering if it’s worth the $1300 they are asking ? It seems to be in fantastic condition especially for its age.

That is probably a pre 2000, and most likely a pre-1990 gun.

Is it a commercial Mauser or a military conversion?

$1300 is a lot to recover if it is a dud.

It’s a commercial action but there were no visible proof marks above the wood line. There was one of these on GB that sold for $1000 but it wasn’t in this rifle’s condition (though a more desirable 7x57 chambering)

Frankonia makes them or has them made in most of the "standard" German calibers. 8x57, 7x64, 30-06, 308, 6.5x55 Swede, 9,3x62, 9.3x64, 375, 8x68s.

They are only doing them in 9.3x62, 308, 30-06 and 8x57. Those 4 cartridges are 90% of our current production rifles (that aren't 223, or 22LR).

Very solid built, European working man’s rifles. Extremely reliable. In the past, they were also offered in .375 Holland & Holland Magnum and .458 Winchester Magnum.

But currently, as @Muskox notes… the largest caliber that these are produced in, is 9.3x62mm Mauser.

I used to get Franconia Catalogues from a German friend of mine. They were and maybe still are like what Cabela's was twenty years ago. Very good "outdoor" merchandise at reasonable prices.

Cabelas and Bass Pro still do master catalogs for card members. I got one last year.

The most recent edition of Frankonia is hardcover. But they have the softcover ones in the store.

I don't know if I would say that Frankonia is good value.

Prices are deadlocked between them and www.livingactive.de . We shop the sales with both of them. Prices are probably more expensive. Just depends on what they are selling.

Guns are pretty much at retail, but they have massive sales. Commonly 20-35 percent off, and Americans here in Germany with the armed forces don't pay VAT so another 19% off. Makes for some great deals.

Optics are the same.

Clothing is probably comparable to Kuiu, Sikta, Browning or whoever in price. There are some companies you probably don't see like Rascher, Barbor, Swedteam, Harkila, and others. None of that stuff is cheap. Rascher makes a wool orange winter coat, I'd love to have one for winter driven hunts here and for orange required hunts in America but they are $700.

Plus they sell trachten in some form or fashion in most of their stores. The Stuttgart store has an entire area of trachten for women and men. Trachten is country clothing for Germans and Austrians, dirndl dresses, lederhosen, and so on. Frankonia tracht has a hunting theme. But it is the same brands that everyone else sells like Lodenfrey and others.

They don't stock a ton of used guns, but if you want a new drilling or combination gun, they generally have one. They also seem to have 30-40 rifles mostly Blaser R8s, Merkel Helix, Steyr, Roessler, Sauer, Mauser, and others.

The big super store in Wurzburg (actually in the county of Frankonia) is like a very nice super-Cabelas. They have $50,000 guns on the wall. They probably have 20 or 30 drillings and double rifles in stock, all new. All standard cartridges, but there will be 1 or 2 safari rifles up there.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
