Planning a trip to New Zealand.
Plan on touring both North and South islands after hunt.
Any suggestions for hotels or touring places.
All info, suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

I’m interested as well? Any sea fishing charters?

Happy to help out planning your adventure in New Zealand, let me know what your thoughts are as far as how you would like to do this, time on each Island, game you would like to hunt and I can spend time planning things put for you.

Thank you for responding. I would rather get info about hotels and touring figured out first. Not sure if 1 week in each island is sufficient, can adjust time spent touring. Would appreciate any ideas you can provide. Dont really want a specific plan at this time, just putting together part of trip first.
Thanks
Bob

If you haven’t selected an outfitter yet, Jim @NEW ZEALAND SAFARIS is outstanding. I highly recommend hunting with him.

My wife and I I toured the South Island for few days prior to our hunt.. Queenstown has a lot to offer… great food, lots of really nice Air BnB options, the gondola up the mountain is worth doing..

Christchurch has a lot to offfer as well… again great food, plenty of great places to stay, some really cool museums, etc..

Mt Cook was a neat day trip…

The little town surrounding the Hanmer Springs hot spring baths are really nice as well…

Don’t miss the Fairlie Bakehouse that’s just a few miles from Jim’s lodge… bar none the best New Zealand savory meat pies on the island… we literally visited 3 times… and ate pies at probably a half dozen different places while we were there..

Hokatika Gorge is another don’t miss item… the hike is stunningly beautiful… and the bridge over the gorge makes for stunning photography…

Call Gary at Von Gruff knives and stop in for a visit to his shop… he’s a super nice and accommodating guy… and one of his hand made custom hunting knives is a perfect memento for a hunting trip to New Zealand… he does exceptional work and his knives are very reasonably priced…

Don’t be afraid to rent a car and drive the island.. just getting from place to place is an adventure in and of itself and the views and vistas you’ll catch just driving down the road are incredible.. you’ll be on the wrong side of the road and wrong side of the car… but speed limits are pretty low all over the island and New Zealanders are courteous drivers.. we had no problems at all…

We stayed in Air BnBs our entire trip.. no hotels.. we found the Air BnBs more affordable, more comfortable, and more convenient than hotel options.. especially in the more rural areas…

I have an outfitter already booked but was curious about sea charter fishing.

North Island (1) Auckland (1 day or longer) (2) Rotorua (1 full day) (3) Waitomo Cave (1/2 day), time permitting Taupo.
South Island (1) Christchurch (1 day) (2) Greater Queenstowns (at least 3 days). In Queenstown I can recommend Novotel Queenstown Lakeside

I have a mate and his family living in Tauranga on the north island as a missionary
I would love to make a hunting trip there and do some culling for meat animals for his family and friends. Lots of culling and fishing offshore
He said that he wanted to take me out and chop down invasive plants and trees ( LoL) for a day trip, shooting pigs and deer , stags , feral cattle, sounds much better

Hire a car and Enjoy New Zealand. 10 days was. Not enough for us and we were just touring.
I’m did manage to meet up with Garry from VonGruff knives. I have bought from him before and kept in touch. In fact yesterday the 8th was his Birthday.
There is plenty of to see and occupy you.
