Companies that will increase their prices include Remington, Alliant Powder, CCI, Federal, SEVI-Shot and Speer. The following increases include:

  • Shotshell: 1-7 percent
  • Rifle: 1-7 percent
  • Handgun: 1-5 percent
  • 22LR/Shorts: 1-5 percent
  • WMR/HMR: 1-7 percent
  • Primers: 5 percent
  • Alliant Powder: 10 percent (limited availability).

Grrrr

Yes.
Look for increases starting January.
We have been notified of price increase on basically all ammo and components. Also limited supply thru 2025 on the outlook
Also got word today look for increase from 3-7 % from Smith and Wesson and Ruger.
I imagine more will follow shortly.

Slowly squeezing out the "Honey, I need $80 for a box of ammo to go deer hunting" guy.

Anymore at the range, I don't count ammo in rounds, it's now in dollars.

Peter Zeihan is saying to get used to inflation going forward for the next ten years....maybe we better pony up now, may not get better for a good while.
For sure. It'll be "Remember when primers were a hundred bucks a thousand"? when they're two hundred per.

Of course…how convenient.
I guess the 100 percent plus increase for factory ammo, powder/brass and several hundred percent for primers wasn’t enough over the last almost four years?

Sadly, here, AU$200 / 1,000 primers is a bargain now - when they can be found.

:(

While in the Navy. I had a side assignment and was loaned out to help dispose of old small arms ammo, cannon rounds, Bangalore torpedos etc.
Even old powder used on battleships 16” and smaller guns. I guess I was the only one in the area with that NEC

Our max limit to blow or burn was 5000 pounds. Per charge.

We got rid of a ridiculous amount of powder, high and low explosives. It was fun. But it has me wondering if they still dispose of explosives, powder and ammo that way.

Here I’m putting a blasting cap into C4 to cook off the whole pile.

Other pic is various stuff we would blow up.

The whole primer issue is what really ticks me off. The prices are out of control and udderly ridiculous
Just a guess on my part, but I think manufacturers took note of their $30-35 per thousand primers were being resold at $100+ by middlemen and profiters. I received a couple notices from Midway USA this past week about LR and LRM primers being back in stock. The retail prices were all over $100 per thousand and they quickly sold out.

A new primer company, just west of Texarkana, TX, was supposed to come on line soon. Haven't heard any updates, but another manufacturing source might help with supply and maybe drive prices down. Until then, I am shooting and reloading less than I use to.

I sure hope so. Or they could also let some overseas companies bring some in to cover. But I'd rather see a American factory produce them. "cause I'm American" no offense to our brothers in Europe, UK and elsewhere. I just can't imagine rcbs, Redding, Dillon, forster, le wilson ECT expect there company's to survive with components being unavailable

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
