Allure of the Ruger No1

Just ordered a No. 1 in .257 Weatherby, a rifle that has been on my wish list for a while. Can't wait to receive it. They are apparently produced periodically for Lipsey's and have a 28 inch barrel that milks a bit more velocity out of the overbore case. Jeff Quinn was getting over 4,000 FPS with 80 grain TTSX out of this rifle when he tested one. View attachment 716025 This one has nice walnut, couldn't resist !
Good looking #1.

Enjoy....I was partial to 100 grain Nosler Partitions & Barnes TSX.
Most anything under 400 lbs within 400 yards was going to expire quickly!

Yep I sold it....we all make mistakes....

You are going to love the 257 Weatherby, it’s a laser with those 80 grs TTSX. (y)

@roklok
A mate built a 25 using my reamer and case design. The rifle is a P14 with a 25" Shiellen barrel. With the 80gn outer edge mono he is getting 3,900 fps with zero pressure signs. Says it's a laser and the terminal effects are impressive.
So your rifle should be even more goodera.

Where did you find this and does it go between the barrel and forend and barrel?
No unfortunately it sticks on with single sided tape and Velcro. So if I ever take it off there may be some residue to remove. On the good side there is nothing wrapping the barrel. I think the website is the same as the label. Go Hunt. Very handy little thing.

Yeah, I was afraid of that, I use a wrist one one, but loose a shell every now and then. I'm looking for wrap around ones, so it can go between guns, and come off when I'm not using it.

I have used a 2" section of a bicycle inner tube, over the bbl & forearm & under the objective bell of the scope. I put a ctg under the inner tube on both sides of the bbl. I also zero my rifle with the extra shells in place . This has worked for me many years.;)

Nice.
You mind sharing a picture or two of it?

Anybody ever done a No.1 to .410 conversion? Think it would be a fun gun
That's a lot of money, for a 410, a stevens falling block is a pretty nice 410 though. Just my two cents, but if you have a extra No1 or No3 laying around, get a tropical barrel bored out to .410 GA. Or have a take down made, with it as a second barrel, you could have a No3 take off barrel done also, so you have iron sights, for turkey hunting.

My tropical 375hyh with some doubles

If anyone is looking, I was at the Cabelas gun library in Allen Texas yesterday and they just put out a 1997 Ruger No. 1 International (full length stock) in 7x57 that is in excellent condition with the original box for $1995.
