I am curious if anyone has used or has extensive experience with Magpro powder. I bought 3 lbs of Magpro because it was available and a reasonable price. Also, I wanted to try something on the slow burn end of the spectrum.

I loaded some 300 WM with Hornady 200 gr ELD-X and got great results. Velocity in the 2850 fps range with SD of 6 on a 10 shot group. Interesting to note I weighed about 20 bullets and they ranged from 200.0 to 200.4 grs.

I will likely try it in the 7mm mag and 338 WM. That is if I can get some bullets.

I just started working up a load for my 300 win mag. I am using 210 accubonds. Starting with the lowest charge weight that nosler recommended I was getting high pressure signs after going up.5 grains. Then tried 200 accubonds with similar results. I seated the bullets with a longer seating depth than saami. Would it lower the pressure if I seated the bullets deeper?

I don't see a Magpro load for the 210 gr bullet on Nosler's online data. I do see one for the 200 gr bullet.

I narrowed down my loads to 77.8, 78.0 and 78.2 grains. Velocity was 2820-2880 fps and SD of 5 to for each load. I am weighing each powder load on a Lyman Gen 5 scale and using a MagnetoSpeed V3 for measuring velocity. No pressure signs. Using COAL of 3.340".

I bought some as well a few months ago when it was out there and nothing else was, but I dont have anything thats really suited it for it, its too slow for the .338 Wimp mag and I dont have a .300 Win mag anymore.

Thanks, I have some 200 gr. Eld-x and will give them a try.

I've seen a published load for a 212 gr ELD-X of 74.0 grs of Magpro.

What load were you using for the 210 gr NAB?

I started at 74 and worked up to 78. Before showing pressure signs. I actually used the hodgdon reloading info that went up to 82.2. It was for the Berger vld bullet.

Have used it in my wife's and my 7REM MAG's with great results.

Hi, went to the range today and got some decent results. 300 win mag using eldx 200 grain. Using 76.5 grains of magpro I got 1 inch groups. Velocities were between 2887 and 2911. Next I will try different seating depths. I have heard mixed reviews on the eldx bullet so hopefully I can get some more accubonds or maybe partitions. Mainly working on a good load for elk.

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
