Thank you for bringing back memories of my school days when we used to watch movies/newsreels on commonwealth countries.
I had forgotten the beauty and grandeur of that once magnificent country. The rewards of rubies to the young women dancers by the maharaja was truly humbling.
The mutual respect of the people and maharaja was good to see.
Watching the old tracker/Skinner ply his skills with nothing moe than a stone to sharpen his vast array of wonderful knives was sheer beauty.
The story by the narrator was a joy to listen to and added untold insight into the days of yore. I don't know if it was the film or not but the lack of poverty and the joy of the people was very much in evidence.
It was a fantastic adventure into the past that's still fondly remembered by many.
It is a cultural tragedy that one person can ruin such a beautiful country in such a short period of time. They should be held up to ridicule to the rest of the world as an example of how to completely ruin a country
Somethings may have not been that good in days gone by but compared to the filth and squalor you see on tv about India nowdays these would pale into insignificance.
My heart goes out to you and you fellow county men that were subjected to the vagrencies of one STUPID POWER HUNGRY PERSON and her indoctrination of a continent to believe in such stupidity and ideals.
I am glad you and your fellow shikars have found peace and contentment in your new country.

Your comment made me get extremely emotional , Bob . I am glad that you have managed to understand and appreciate the charm and beauty of Old India ... On such a deep level . We used to hunt 8 months of the year . EVERY house hold used to possess a 12 Bore shot gun and a .22 Long Rifle calibre rifle ( At the very least ) . Things like gaur bison , 4 horned buck , Neelgai , black buck , Chinkara , Barasingha , hog deer , sand grouse , Chukar , pea fowl and Bustard ... Were regular parts of our diet . These are things ... Which I have not tasted in 50 years . We used to love our Maharajahs . And they used to love us . The university at Calcutta used to be referred to , as the “ Oxford Of The East “ . We were a rich , diverse culture . Hindus , Muslims , Christians and Buddhists ... All co existed in unity and harmony . We used to have the most delicious kebabs . 35 different varieties . Every cafe in India ... Used to have a Juke Box . Dancing to English songs ... Was not banned , back in those days . Indian Silk was the finest and purest ... In the entire world . Western clothes were common place ... Among both men AND women .

Then , that cow urine drinking socialist vegan bitch ( Indira Gandhi ) and her hooligans took over India . They destroyed my home . They made a mockery out of our Royal Excellences . They ROBBED our Maharajahs of their ancestral property and wealth . They made them beggars . They banned hunting , in any and all forms .
Doing this ... Led to the decimation of our gaur , black buck , Chinkara , Himalayan Black Bear , Himalayan Brown Bear , 4 horned buck , rhinoceros , Asiatic lion and Bustard populations . Poaching became rancid .They ( Practically ) banned fire arms ownership . They made it taboo , for women to wear Western clothes . They made meat eating a socially immoral activity . They made it taboo .

But all of this pales in comparison to their biggest crime . They successfully indoctrinated 3 ENTIRE generations of India’s youth against hunting , meat eating and fire arms ownership . They damage that they caused ... Is permanent . Because of them ... Hunting , fire arms ownership and meat eating can never become acceptable in India ... Ever again . They made us ( Shikarees , fire arms owners & meat eaters ) look like serial killers ... In the eyes of India’s youth . EVERY Indian film that features a shikaree , a fire arms owner or a meat eater ... Always makes us look like the villains .

India has become a vegan , socialist utopia run by fanatical cow urine drinking Hindus . It is a poverty stricken country , where little girls ( And boys ) are boys are regularly raped and killed . Muslims are attacked regularly and blamed , for EVERY perceivable crime ( Even if the crime occurs a full 30 miles away , from the nearest Muslim city ) .

Major, thank you for sharing such a great video! It really transported me to a time I am sad to say we will never get back. Just like the golden age of African safaris, the great Shikars of India will always hold a revered place in the great tapestry that is hunting tradition. I feel incredibly privileged to have someone such as yourself here to share such a unique perspective on a time and practice that has been so maligned.

My dear friend my apologies for upsetting you. I vividly remember seeing this documentaries on India of old and how much I wanted to go and see the place and hunt there. Now it is the last place on earth I would ever go.
