9.3 twist rates

Pac-Nor lists a 12 twist is recommended for this caliber. http://pac-nor.com/barrels/

Same with Lilja. http://riflebarrels.com/calibers-and-twist-rates/

Neither lists one with a 14 twist.

Aside from these examples, the manufacturers of rifles have been slow and behind the curve with their twist rates. Newer, longer for caliber bullets and VLD designs require faster twists than what has been traditionally offered. Having said that, for the reason of limiting a rifle to bullet weights available, I would NOT build a rifle in a .366 caliber with a 14 twist. YMMV.

Berger's twist rate calculator. http://www.bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/

Assuming a bc of .3 and your data inputs, SG/Stability will be good with a 14 twist.

Ok,its an option next,I have 285 and 232,why not get the 250`s as well.

HP I was advised by the importer that the barrel (Lothar Walther) had the 14 twist rate, maybe he got it wrong.
I tried to find on the LW website but couldnt.

HP I opened your link and I am going to send that to the importer and ask why he suggested it was a 1.14
Your post has been a revelation as there has been so much conjecture re the projectiles, thank you.
When I explored the site previously I didn't click on any of the actual barrels as above...doh!

To add to this mess I now have an email from the importer ha ha! As quoted below.

CIP standard for a 9.3x64 is a 360mm twist. Your barrel is a #724 "finished" barrel for a Mauser 98. You will find it on the website under "finished barrels for rifles" and Mauser 98, and is a 360mm twist. The 12" twist barrels listed under the heading of custom made barrels are exactly that - custom made - and probably offered for the American market.

As a by-the-by, Nosler have finally caught up with supply of the 250AB; for several years the were like solid gold dinosaur eggs.
The will be one option in my new 9.3X64 ...
