Which bullet are you choosing for plains game and why? Barnes 150 ttsx or 160 accubond?

I use 140gr TSX on plains game. I have used 150's and 160's.
The 160's hit hard but everything has died on the spot with all three.

160Gr AccuBond. The TTSX are an excellent bullet of their class, but they sometimes penetrate too much on the lighter class of game,

My choice would be the 160gr TSX. The 160gr Accubond would be an excellent choice as well, but would prefer the penetration of the Barnes on tougher game.

140 TTSX is the best 7mag Barnes option.
Speed is Barnes friend. The 140 have exited every animal I’ve seen killed with them.

I’d say get a box of 140TTSX and 150 TTSX and see which one shoots the best 5 shoot group. Pick that

Swift A-Frame or Nosler Partition in 160 gr. Also, I used 175 gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw recently and was very pleased.

African game is tough! I have learned not to depend on cup and core designs. Lost one Oryx to a 30'06 Hornady Light Magnum load. Same load dropped a Hartebeest but dumped lead core--found separate cup and a tear drop of lead. Am suspicious of same performance on the lost Oryx.

Having said that, I would certainly trust a Scirocco. Bear claw might be the best premium bullet all around. You will probably get an exit from either A Frame or TTSX.

Depends on what your rifle likes? Mine likes 150 Noslers so that's what I used and continue to use.

Nosler what? :ROFLMAO:

They currently make 15 different bullets so I’m sure he would want to know which one works for you.

I would use which ever shoots best from your rifle. I have tried both and the Barnes shot better from my rifle. They have worked fine on elk and pronghorn.

My apologies, I use Partitions almost exclusively. Started with he Solid Base, went to Ballistic Tips then Accubonds, but I'm back to Partitions and staying for that rifle.

What did you take with this one, Sir?
Aoudad at about 240 yards with my 7mm Rem Mag. I have a recent hunt report with all the details. I recovered the 175 gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, just under the skin of the aoudad. The aoudad is the first animal I have taken with the TBBC bullet. I weighed it on my powder scale and it was 155.2 gr. That’s 88.7% retained weight.

Planning to use Swift A-Frame, 160 gr. If my rifle doesn’t them I will try North Fork semi spitzers.

I have used 150g Fusions with great result. The 175g fusions may be even better. There are others and the TTSX comes to mind along with the Scirocco.

160g Barnes TTSX has been working well for years now.

I’ve used 175 Partitions in my 7RM with excellent results. Sable, Kudu, Gemsbok, and more. Excellent penetration and I’d gladly use them again on my next Safari. I achieved excellent accuracy with that bullet in front of a near-max load of Reloader 22.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
