I’m considering converting a 458 win mag in a Ruger m77 RS to 458 Lott. Does anyone have experience doing such a project?

It’s a Ruger action, but good point I need to find out it’s length with the Lott being .3 longer than the Winchester.

The magazine and the action are too short. The 458 Lott is on the RSM action.

The magazine is also shorter than rsm. Lot of differences.

how long is the magazine on that rifle? you can load the win mag with 404 Hammer Bullets long if you have magazine space for more velocity and less recoil and take any animal you want

I haven’t purchased it yet. I’m learning it’s the length of a standard long action.

It's not too hard to find a factory 458 Lott from Ruger in their Express line. That was my first Lott and was a great rifle with just a few minor mods. Post that you're looking for one and keep your eyes on the online sources.

Ahh that’s right. I had the tang safety version also, not the Express. Great rifle. I believe that’s what Buzz Charlton used for years in a 416 Rigby.

Anyone have a 458 Lott with a rang safey they might like to sell?

Forgot about browning. Savage has a tang mounted safety also. I just wasn’t thinking along those lines.

Don't give up...just takes a little time. I would NOT substitute a Browning or Savage over the old Rugers. It's a huge delta between them.

I'll take the Vortex scope cover you have listed in the Pay it Forward thread.
