My buddy is going off of data that I consider suspect.

When I run the numbers through GRT, I show pressure WAY over the limit, almost to 90,000

Anybody else ever shot 300 gr TSX in a 375 Ruger with RL17 as the propellant?

This is the load ladder
77.2gr
77.9gr
78.6gr
79.3gr
80.0gr
80.7gr
81.4gr
81.9gr

Is your friend measuring velocity? If your 90,000 psi calculation is correct, wouldn't the velocity be super high???

Hornady (10th Ed) shows max load for RL17 to be 78.9 gr for Hornady bullets and they tend to be pretty conservative.

The guy who published the data (on another forum, so can't link it) is reporting about 2650 in a Ruger Alaskan, 20". GRT shows MV of 2869.

this is what GRT shows. Remember, TSX is all copper, so it has a higher initial pressure than gilding metal jacketed bullets like Norma and Hornady.

Totally different bullets. But, Speer does lists a maximum 375 Ruger load with their 285 grain bullet and Reloader 17 as 82 grains.

So don't use the data then, stick to published data and work your way up from there to be safe

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
