Sorry in advance for the coming pile of gun questions for first timer. Intent is to get handload figured out and do a ton of practice!

So I have 2 loads for 300WM, a 150 bonded btip and a 180 tsx. Biggest critter after is zebra, smallest springbok in Limpopo.

Should I 1- try and work out the poi to use both loads for situation, 2- Split difference with a new 165 load, or 3- just stick with 180 tsx? I'm guessing the prevailing answer to be 3, but what say you?

Number 3, stick with the 180 TSX. Flipping between bullet types and knowing where they shoot differently......all I see is disaster. Not sure where you're hunting in Limpopo, but that country tends to be thicker country where the advantage of that fast 150gr load will not likely be useful. And in a moment of excitement, mixing up the 150gr load for a 180gr TSX at a zebra that is fairly close could equate to a long day and utlimately a lost wounded animal.

Keep it simple!

What Phil said.

Although, try some 165's and split the difference?? BIg advantage of reloading, trying different bullets and powders to see what your gun likes.

Try some 165 gr and or 168 gr Barnes TTSX. I have found both of them superb on game.

Stick with one load and learn and know the trajectory. The vital zone on Zebra and like game is relatively large and distances are usually within 250 yards. That's basically hold dead on where your PH tells you to and collect your trophy. You can play around with loads but that will possibly (likely) lead to confusion on which load is which, and lands where.

My method is develop one accurate load with ample bullet weight, load plenty of them, learn the trajectory, and practice off your sticks at many distances until you are confident you can get a shot off quickly and accurately.

Barnes designed the TTSX 165 specifically for the .300 Win Mag. Use it rather than the 168. The ogive to tip length is shorter on the 165, which allows the ogive to be closer to lands and still fit in the magazine.

The 165 TTSX with 70.6 of IMR 4831 with a F210 @ 3100 fps in Peterson brass is my go to load for .300 Win Mag. It works nicely in all of my .300 Win Mags.

Buy the Peterson “long” brass for .300 Win Mag. The base to datum line (point on the middle of the shoulder) is 0.010” longer. So, it is like loading fired brass. Set the die to headspace off the shoulder, rather than the belt.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
Impala cull hunt for camp meat!
