I would like to take my .375 to HartzView next year with Eland being on the menu. I had some of these leftover from trying to develop rounds with IMR4350. I never had the luck with that powder in that bullet weight that I had with the 300gr loads. After some web scouring, it seemed RL15 was good for the lighter bullets in this caliber.

Max load per the manual is 71.5gr and this was the most accurate. The .375 holes are as follows. Top left is from 2 shots and the one directly below it is the 3rd. The other 3 holes to the right and lower are from my .300WM.

Pretty good shot group at a thousand yards Phil. :)

It appears the Eland is in the bag if you do you job.

It looks like you found a winner in the reloading game! Nice group!

Tried this load again today. I kept 3 shots within a 1" square in a cloverleaf pattern. I chrono'd the loads and they averaged 2620fps, a bit slower than I was expecting per the load manual.

I hope you were not too surprised that your actual velocity did not quite make the published velocity? :D For large plains game, that is all you need and then some. Nice shooting, pard.

Thanks Ses. Not terribly surprised, but the .308 velocities I spoke of in the other thread did match up fairly well. The Swift manual had those faster but that was for a 24" barrel not 22".

Something of a conundrum on what to use. I also threw through the chrono my 300gr A-Frames and those averaged 2560fps, only 60fps slower than these 270gr loads. In fairness, I've not gone past the max load in the manual for the 270gr's, whereas my 300gr load is 1.5gr above max. I'm going to step up this RL15 load slowly and see what happens. But as you say this load should work as is.

Another 50-100 fps would be nice but only if its as accurate as the slower load. I like the 2560/300gr load, thats classic!

I couldn't agree more on both of those statements.

Has anyone tried Vit N540? It appears to yeild higher velocities per some of the reloading manuals. Also, with some these these higher velocity loads has anyone noticed an increase in recoil??

I haven't used any of the Vihtavouri powders. I've thought about it, but the couple of times I did the local stores didn't have the specific version I needed and I'm not interested in paying a hazardous material fee for one pound of powder.

At Kalahari Safari, the Small Things Are the Big Things
The thrill of the stalk. The stillness of the wait. The age-old rhythm of the hunt.
It’s not just about the size of the trophy. It’s about the stories that will be told for years.
We believe the memories are the true prize. The small things are the big things.
And we’re proud to offer a hunting experience that honours exactly that.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
