Without the United States, Germany, being dumb enough to start TWO world wars, and the rest of Europe would still be in ruins or be a part of the collapsed USSR.
I don't think that country should say a word . They can't make it without the money from the US. Who else will or have bailed and built them out.

THE NEW ME..................

I used to think I was just a regular guy, but I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist & responsible for slavery.

I am a fiscal & moral conservative, which by today’s standards, makes me a fascist because I plan & support myself.

I went to HS, worked through college, got a degree & have held a job, & am here not because I earned it but because I was advantaged.

I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks, now makes me a homophobe.

I am non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class & ally of big business.

I am not a Muslim, which now labels me as an infidel.

I believe in the 2nd Amendment, which makes me a member of the vast NRA gun lobby.

I am older than 65 & retired, making me a useless old man who doesn't understand Facebook.

I think & I reason, so I doubt what main stream media tells me, which must make me a reactionary.

I am proud of my heritage & our inclusive American culture, making me a xenophobe.

I value my safety & that of my family, & I appreciate the police & the legal system, making me a right-wing, cop loving extremist.

I believe in hard work, fair play, & fair compensation according to each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.

I believe our system guarantees freedom of effort - not freedom of outcome or subsidies which must make me a borderline sociopath.

I believe in the defense & protection of America for & by all citizens, now making me a militant.

I am proud of our flag, what it stands for, & the many who died to let it fly so I stand & salute during our National Anthem, taking me back where I started - I must be a racist.

Please help me come to terms with the new me because I'm just not sure who I am anymore!

I thank my friends for sticking with me through these abrupt, new found changes to my thinking!

I just can't imagine or understand what's happened to me so quickly!

Funny- it all took place over the last 7 or 8 years!

If all this nonsense wasn't enough to deal with, I don't know which restroom to use, & I gotta go!!!

It is curious to me that "Palestine" and "Palestinians" (a creation of multi-national forces at the conclusion of WWI, notably the British and French; there is no historical nation state known as "Palestine" ) should quibble over the 365 sq km of Gaza and the 5655 sq km of the West Bank, and fight for "home rule" when there are 91,000 sq km east of the Jordan River which are also "Palestine" and where they do not launch rockets and carry out other acts of terrorism against the Jordanian government.

I wish I could ‘like’ this 1000 times. Right on.

A teacher asked her class how many of them were Bernie Sanders fans.
Not really knowing what a Bernie Sanders fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.
The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different...again.
Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not a Bernie Sanders fan.'
The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you a Bernie Sanders fan?'
Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Conservative.'
The teacher asked him why he's a Conservative.
Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mom's a Conservative and my Dad's a Conservative, so I'm a Conservative.'
Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your Mom was a Moron and your Dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'
Little Johnny replied, 'A Bernie Sanders fan.'

For those that may not understand @Hogpatrol 's "New Me", the University of Kansas can help teach you.

University of Kansas students will soon be able to study the rise of the "angry white male."

The college course, called Angry White Male Studies, will dive into "the deeper sources of this emotional state while evaluating recent manifestations of male anger" in the United States and Britain since the 1950s.

The course catalog description states: "Employing interdisciplinary perspectives this course examines how both dominant and subordinate masculinities are represented and experienced in cultures undergoing periods of rapid change connected to modernity as well as to rights-based movements of women, people of color, homosexuals and trans individuals."

They need a course that explains the Trump Derangement Syndrome and what was the root cause of the wailing and crying on election night by people old enough to not act like three year olds when they don't get their way.

Small overseas correction.
We Germans started one, not the first one.
Germany was alliance partner of Habsburg Austria.
A Serbian nationalist shot the Austrian future imperial couple.(Millions had to die for two persons.....)
Austria declared war on Serbia and France was an ally of Serbia and and and .
That it became a world war nobody suspected at that time

Emperor Wilhelm II (who is often seen as a warmonger) came to power in 1888.
1914 the war broke out.
If you need 26 years to start a war, then you simply can't.
We always had a tendency to be on the receiving end of Austrians.

Exactly correct - a major reason the Treaty of Versailles was so problematic. It conveniently put the blame for the war on Germany which still existed as a state and could hence pay reparations, rather than the then defunct Hapsburg Empire. The unfairness of that treaty was a major cause of the rise of militant German Nationalism in the Thirties. And as far as the Second World War, technically, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany first following the invasion of Poland (to whom they were bound by treaty obligations - sounds rather like Germany in the first war doesn't it). Though I am confident that Hitler believed that war with France and Britain was a likely outcome of the invasion in spite of the non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union.

And guys, Germany's economy is doing just fine, and is hardly dependent upon the US. And do not think of post-war US economic and military support to Western Europe as some form of altruism on our part. A strong, recovering Western Europe was essential if Soviet expansionism was to be halted and thus was a critical US national interest.

Red Leg is, as usual, entirely correct. It should also be noted that the First World War ended not with a surrender by Germany, but with an armistice. You might be hard pressed to identify exactly what the difference would have been, given the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, but formally, Germany did not surrender (unlike at the end of the Second World War).

And since we are talking about who "started" one war or another, it's interesting to ponder distinctions such as "direct cause", "indirect cause", "proximate cause", (or, for those who prefer Latin, causa causans, vs. causa sine qua non for example) etc. Many (including, for example, Pope Benedict XV) predicted at the time of the Treaty of Versailles that its terms would lead to another war, or exacerbated rather than resolved the old conflicts which had given rise to the war in the first place, and thus made another war more likely. So could it be said that the allies, in imposing the Treaty of Versailles, were a "cause" of WW2? It could, depending on which definition of "cause" you choose.

Red Leg.
I see it the same way you do.
Fortunately Roosevelt after the WW II. had a different post-war order in mind than Wilson (who let the French with the Versailles Treaty allow). Roosevelts/Trumans "Pax Americana" after the war, was Germany's greatest, most greatest political luck and the best thing that could happen to us. Such a thing instead of the Versailles Treaty and Hitler would never have existed.
For that we will always remember America gratefully. Always.
Say this to Donald Trump ;)

@Hank
"Germany did not surrender (unlike at the end of the Second World War)."
That didn't seem legally possible.
The " boss " Wilhelm was on the run (the cowardly dog), the monarchy was chased to the devil and he abdicated shortly afterwards.Besides, in 1918 not a single enemy soldier stood on German soil. Not only one. This made it very difficult for the people to accept the conditions.

Philippines' Duterte gives Canada 1 week to take back garbage or 'we will declare war'

Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday reportedly threatened to "declare war" against Canada within the next week if the country fails to remove tons of garbage that was previously shipped to Manila.

Duterte, in remarks aired by state media and reported by The Canadian Press, said he will "give a warning to Canada maybe next week that they better pull that thing out or I will set sail."

"I will declare war against them. I will advise Canada that your garbage is on the way. Prepare a grand reception. Eat it if you want to," he said. "Your garbage is coming home."

The garbage reportedly consists of electronic and household waste.

Between 2013 and 2014, Canada shipped tons of waste in 103 containers to the Philippines and ,in the years since, has been pushing the Southeastern Asia country to dispose of it.

When Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Manila in 2015, he said that a "Canadian solution" was being developed and said the situation would not occur again, according to the news outlet.
