In memoriam - gillettehunter

Had the pleasure of meeting him in of all places as we’re both transiting through the Joberg airport police station with rifles. Truly a class act and someone whom will be surely missed. My deepest condolences to the family.

Bruce’s Ads for Marshal Jewelry used to play locally on about every radio station up here in the Black Hills area. It wasn’t until I joined AH that I got to know him. He was a good guy. Full of knowledge.

Deepest Condolences to Bruce's family and many friends. May he forever Rest In Piece and happiness doing in the after life that he did during his time on Earth.

Oh wow, condolences. RIP Bruce, I’ll miss his contributions to the forum.

So sorry to hear this!

I always enjoyed Bruce’s positive attitude and hunting reports. He was a true inspiration to me and will be terribly missed.

May the wind always be in his favor and the trails smooth. Sending my deepest condolences to your family during this time.

Oh boy, sad news. Condolences to all.

Condolences to Bruce’s loved ones.

I enjoyed his posts.

I talked to Bruce for almost an hour on the 21st of October; just a week or so ago… Bruce sounded good! Consequently I was shocked to hear of his passing away so soon after we visited on the phone! Bruce told me quote; “I should be going back to Africa!” and “Don’t get cancer Jerry; it sucks!” I got choked up! I had no words! None of us here on AH that dream of more adventures in the field, more sunrises and sunsets, more shared campfires with friends and loved ones want to think about what Bruce was facing. I talked to him sometime back and he was in Phoenix in the hospital and it was so sad because he told me he had underwent a medical procedure that was kind of a; “last ditch effort”; as he worded it… and he told me it had not been successful. I told him I would be praying for him.
I just want to say that Bruce was so nice to me and we were phone buddies with Africa hunting as our “common ground”! I appreciate him taking the time when I reached out dreaming of hunts that he had been on and him sharing his thoughts and information like so many here on AH are willing to do. I have made several very close friends just from investigating hunts that I was interest in from posts they made here on this forum. That is the way I met Bruce and it was all about hunting bongo in the forest. That’s the way I first connected with him and it grew from there. We became friends. We talked about fishing, We talked about firearms and travel and so much more! I’m so sad to hear that he is no longer with us! I’m glad our last conversation was a very long and enjoyable one! Bruce was my friend!

I too got acquainted with Bruce over a few phone conversations about hunting and fishing. I invited to come out to SF fishing and honestly thought that would happen. He was a kind and sincere person to talk to. I know he is missed by many and I feel blessed to have had a connection with him.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I always enjoyed his posts, like many others on the forum. He will be missed.
