Looking at getting a new scope for my 375h&h for my upcoming kodiak brown bear hunt. Currently has a 2.5-8 leupold.
Looking for the clearest and most durable scope possible. Been looking at maybe a trijicon accupoint.

What's y'alls favorite?

1. The old Leupold VXR 1.25-4 if you can find one.
2. The Leupold VX5HD 1-5x
3. The Swaro Z8i+ .75-6x

Hard to beat the Swaro for brightness and field of view, but it might cost more than the rifle it sits on.

I haven’t hunted it yet because it knew. But so far I zero complaints with the 1-6x24 Nightforce NX-6 I mounted on my 375H&H

RMR on a Double
Swaro 1.7x15x42 on a bolt gun 375 thru 416 Rigby
Bigger than 416 an RMR

The best I have had although pricy is the Swarovski Z8i in 1-8-24

For the money this is a pretty nice scope. I currently have this model on one of my .375 H&H's.

If you're going to be shooting longer distances, then I'd look at the VX-5HD, they also have it in a lighted reticle for 929.00.

Another vote for Leupold VX5 in 2-10 for a 375

I’ve had a Leupold VX6 1-6 x 24 brake on my 404 Jeffrey
If your going to use a Leupold, make sure your safari sights are sighted in properly in case it fails, also make sure you have QD mounts

Nightforce wins durability.

I have a few and Never have to adjust zero. Traveled to Africa twice, hundreds of miles in the truck around the ranch, and they don’t move.

There’s a forum out there that does drop tests on scopes to check durability. Nightforce is one of only a couple that hold zero. The gold rings are some of the worst at holding zero.

Pay attention to detail when mounting and use quality components and your set.

I’ve also heard Nightforce are great scopes, but I have no experience with them.

For a .375 H&H I’ve found the Leupold VX5HD in 2-10x with Firedot reticle to be ideal. I’ve had several occasions where the higher magnification came in handy, including shooting the LDE in my avatar, and 2x is plenty low on the bottom end. This is an excellent scope and perfect magnification range for 375.

The Firedot reticle is a game changer and I won’t have another scope without this feature. It’s essential.

My tried and true is an old school Leupold VX-1 1-4X.
I suspect they have reduced it to their Freedom line.
Here's the thing. It is clear, and and never needed a single adjustment from all the beatings it has taken going to southern Africa 3 times from Alaska. So, I love it.

For that particular hunt. Have you asked what ranges you will be expected to shoot?

Sometimes Brown Bear hunts come down to one opportunity. And sometimes it’s farther than we expect.

Are your eyes good enough in drizzling rain, grey sky, low light to shoot 200 yds with a 1-4X scope?

I’ve seen guys bragging about using iron sights, then shoot a bear in the guts.

Then someone has to risk their life fixing the mess for you.

Possible to shoot at 200 In the rain at 4x, but easier on 6x.
Nice to have 8x or maybe 10x if you need it.
I run the 2.5-8 and normally use from 2.5-6, but on occasion have used 8 when the conditions allow.

Versatility for conditions is key here. I went back and forth with the 1.5-5’s and 1-4’s for the compactness and weight but these days the slightly bigger scopes are 2 ounces heavier and only the bell objective in size difference.

I still like my 2.5x fixed leupold ultralight on my heavy rifles best; it’s just not as versatile.

Does anyone run the weaver style fixed scopes anymore? 2.5’s, 3x , 4x?

Swarovski 1-6x24 Illuminated with extended eye relief is the gold standard. No longer made, but available if you dig.

Swarovski 1-8x24 illuminated is an excellent optic as well, but never came with the extended eye relief. Its an excellent optic, although the 7-8x magnification is usually unnecessary for dangerous game.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
