Deer Season 2026

A little shy about posting my first buck, (I previously shot does), having hunted in both Africa and Romania but still proud of my 8 point which @skydiver386 encouraged me to post. Only wanting to shoot does for meat, but he walked up. Shot with a crossbow!

Congratulations.
A friend once told me, "you know how excited you were when you shot your first buck with a rifle? Well, you feel that way every time with a bow!" Happy for you!

I can't post a pic of the deer, but the granddaughter of my buddy who owns the farm where I hunt shot a very very nice buck out of the stand that hunt hunt often last Wednesday. Literally a buck of a lifetime for SC.

I'll see if I can black out the face and post a pic.

Nothing yet, lots of does and young bucks. Nothing worth shooting yet. This is going to be a nice one in a couple of years. For a young buck, he is big body. He ate, and when he was full, bedded down about 20-30 ft from the feeder. Oh, and even took a nap. :ROFLMAO:

Rut supposed to start the first week of November and I’ll be there waiting (y)

Well, went out yesterday afternoon. I did some soft rattling and a young 6 pts came in to investigate. He hung around for 15-20 min ate and then left.

I gave him 5 min or so, and rattled softly some more, and I noticed movement from right about 3 O’clock. I got my binos and saw that it was a buck and a shooter. When I was about to take him, he took several steps and hid behind a tree. I could see him and I figure he walked away. I kept looking and noticed his ear moved. He stood behind the tree for an eternity 5-10 min. I grunted softly and noticed he was moving again. I was behind my rifle and holding the binos with the left hand. He finally cleared the tree and before he could take another step I shot. He ran maybe 40 yds and piled up. Stainless Weatherly Mark V, in 7mm Weatherby Magnum, Zeiss scope and shooting 139 grs factory ammo.

It is my biggest GA buck and shot on my little 26 acre property.

Yes sir, it’s a great feeling (y)

9 points I can clearly see. That's a big Buck in the South. (y)

Both my buddies and I had a successful 2nd Rifle Season in Colorado. They each dropped a Doe on opening day and I was lucky enough to Harvest this beefy 7 point on the 2nd day of the season. One shot from the .270 at exactly 250 yards did the trick. The weather was miserable on opening day, cold, windy and rainy, but it was much better the 2nd day.

My son drew his first deer tag here in AZ this year. He put in some solid miles and hours in some pretty hot conditions (it was 81° yesterday) to fill his tag on a nice AZ coues deer. For anyone that has hunted coues deer you know it’s a tough hunt in some rugged country and every buck is earned. He used his new 6.5 creedmoor with hand loaded 100gr ELD-VTs to take this buck with a cross canyon 301 yard shot, dropping the deer on the spot. The pack out was rough. I’ll be out with a tag of my own in the same area next week.

I hunted the Chiricahua Mountains years ago, and it's a rough hunt.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
