Good morning, all,

In an effort to downsize, I am considering selling my CZ 550 in .458 Win Mag customized by Tim at Matrix. I am seeking input from the group on fair pricing, as I recently acquired a .470 double and already regularly use my .416 Rigby. The rifle has been hunted, so it's not perfect but remains in very good condition.

Rifle Details:

- CZ 550 Safari Magnum with a Bavarian-style stock (exceptional factory wood)
- Condition: Minor dings in the wood from hunting (no cracks or major dents); metal is 99.5% with two faint scratches on the bolt handle
- Accuracy: Sub-MOA with Barnes 400gr TSX and Barnes Banded Solids; shoots TBBC and Hornady DGS/DGX right at MOA.

Custom Work:

- Barrel cut to 23"
- Matrix custom banded front sight with red fiber optic and hood
- Custom single-blade express rear sight (regulated for 50 yards)
- Barrel band sling mount
- Midnight Blue Cerakote
- Glass and pillar bedded
- Timney trigger
- 3-position AHR safety
- Bolt straightened and filled
- Machined bolt and follower; action tweaked for smooth feeding (especially with round/flat profile loads like TBBC or flat-nosed solids)

Optics:

- Leupold Patrol 6HD 1-6x24 Illuminated FireDot mounted on Warne QD rings

I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions on a starting price.

Thanks, gents.

These are the best I can do at the moment. I'll have to get detailed close-ups at home tonight.

Based on my tracker for CZ 550s in 458 Win Mag the current market rate is $1,873.70. The general median price would be around $2,000. The caliber is the issue if it was convert to 458 Lott then it would be more around $3,390.93.

I will plead ignorance to the custom work value and scope. But with what I have seen and tracked I would say fair market value is $2,500+, the custom work could increase that estimate but if you find the right buyer you could probably squeeze some more out of it.

Hope that helps. My data is based on all public sales I could find since 2022.

The “unfired since Matrix refinished it” .375 that was listed here ended up selling for $2600.

Honestly I think a stock unmodified CZ 550 458 Lott in excellent condition would start at $2500.

I think your rifle should easily begin at $4000 with everything you’ve had done and looks to be in excellent condition.

Just noticed it has a jeweled bolt too. With the excellent Leupold Patrol 1-6, Warne QD rings and everything you’ve had done, I’m gonna reassess this is a $5000 rifle easy and worth every penny!

Matrix #2 and a little extra is $2500 alone. I think the $5000-5500 range with the scope is accurate.

Thank you all for the input. It is much appreciated!

Thank you. I will take some good, detailed photos and get it posted up for sale in the classifieds this weekend.

Thank you all!

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.
