I would love to see a few pictures of his skull and teeth

Are there any more threads on this somewhere?? A beast like this doesn't happen very often

That is a tank of a cat!

It was taken in Zim, indeed. The PH/Houndsman was Adrian Salter of Adroda Safaris. Adrian sent me the video the day he caught the cat. It was caught in a communal area. I was actually offered the hunt and turned it down due to having committed to my moose hunt.View attachment 791920

Very proud that it was Adrian and his hounds that caught this giant.
@Betterinthebush - great photo of either the Smallest Man or Biggest Leopard I’ve ever seen

What's the world record, incidentally....?

That is indeed a monster leopard but please realize that the big cats can eat 25% of their body weight in a single feeding session. This makes body weight an inaccurate measure of size. I have seen the video of this cat being weighed and it sure looked like he had a distended abdomen. This could also explain why he was so easily run down. The true measure of a leopards size is his scull measurement and judging by the photo of his head, he could well be 'up there'.

Could someone post the video of him being weighed?

Also, while I agree about big cats weight (and many predators actually) varying drastically when they eat large meals; that is a massive cat, regardless. I have made that point about cats before, on this forum, as well when people get wrapped up about only wanting to shoot a mountain lion over XXXlbs. But regardless of if this leopard had a large meal or not, its weight and body size is pretty far outside the range of normal.

It would be interesting to see what the skull measures. Some predators have massive bodies even without big meals and still have small heads. Others, like older males on decline may have withered bodies and massive skull. Certainly runs the full range.

Even if that cat had eaten a quarter of its weight just prior, Chui still weighs 195 - 200 lbs with an empty belly.

Most Leopards killed in Africa are not weighed, and by the time the hunter gets home, they weigh 180lbs. It is said that even PH's overestimate by 40%

For one of my Leopard hunts I bought a scale with me, and before weighing, I asked my very experienced PH what he thought it would weigh, he said, "160." I said 150. When we put it on the scale, it weighed 121.0lbs. He looked so much bigger. Plus a biologist estimated the age to be 7.5-8.5 years ols, so he was a fully mature, territorial male.

120-130 is most likely the average weight of Leopards taken in Africa. That puts some perspective on how massive a 180lb Leopard is.

This Leopard at 244lbs, unless it's a hoax, is a unicorn

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
