Well, I’m using the powder you told me to, with as much as I can stuff in the case, so I’m hoping it meets your approval! :ROFLMAO:

Just ask AI! :p AsThere is no official total production count spanning all manufacturers for rifles chambered in .35 Whelen, but a realistic historical estimate puts the number of factory-produced rifles between 50,000 and 100,000 total units, supplemented by thousands of custom wildcat builds. Factoring in Bob Nelson's stash, it is estimated that fewer than 100 units are owned by others. 'Had a 35W AI (Ackley Improved lol) but sold it as a companion set last year, and a 350 RM earlier.
 
No pics yet but I have a Ruger Hawkeye African 35W that I have loved the little bit of time I've had it. I like the factory irons on the African but I just scoped it the other day and going to sight it in today, it's going to Texas with me for Aoudad and pigs this coming weekend. Only factory loads so far.
 
I like my LH Sako AV. I also have a Remington 7600. However, I don’t shoot the latter nearly as much as I do the Sako.

The 7600 likes a 250 Spire Point ahead of RL15. The Sako is particularly fond of the 250 Hornady RN ahead of IMR 8208. Unfortunately, both powders have become unobtainium up here.
 
The caliber is really growing on me. I am considering having one built with a Proof barrel for my mid range shooting and stalking.

I currently have a CVA that stays at the ranch and a Ruger African I am trying to get dialed in.

My Ruger No. 1 K1A has a 21” barrel. It proved itself a perfect bushveld, stalking rifle in the Kalahari and Limpopo regions of RSA.

I’ve not run it thru a chronograph to check velocity loss, but within 200 yards, I don’t even care.

20” on mine. With modern powders I can get it moving faster than longer barrels with the “old standbys”. If I need more than 2600 with a 250 grainer I will shoot my Norma.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
