I live 30 minutes from Sevier County, where Miss Dolly grew up. All the things she did for the community, especially the children, is just amazing. She is an icon, but around here, she is a hero...

Back when I was a little boy, a commercial for Breeze laundry detergent came on TV, and a very young very buxom Dolly told the camera that you got a free towel in every box. She had her cute little voice. I told Mama, "I like her." Mama said "I'll just bet you DO..." Then she asked why I like her--I said I liked her voice. "Riiiiiight" she replied.
My wife was laughing about the song "Jolene." Seems Mr. Parton was spending a little too much time at the bank with a red headed teller, "trying to get a loan." Dolly said in front of God and everybody, "WELL YOU BETTER GET YOUR ASS HOME BEFORE YOU'RE AT FAULT."
Strangely he went into asphalt business thereafter....

Miss Dolly was a firecracker too! I've heard from friends that worked with her that she didn't stand for certain things, and she wasn't quiet about it either...sounds like another blonde I know....

I grew up in East TN and now she is (was) essentially my neighbor here in Brentwood.
It’s incredibly sad and she is truly loved by us Tennesseans (and many all over the World)
You guys should see all the people here paying respects at her house.
They have had to close the road a couple of times due to traffic issues
I pass her house every day (it’s directly across from our gate)
RIP…She will be dearly missed and is an absolute legend

I belong to a small country music club comprising mostly of senior folks like myself and at our scheduled gathering last night we all jojned in singing a couple of Dolly's songs in tribute to this lady of song. It was touching but sad as we all knew we were sort of saying goodbye to Dolly. Just wanted you all to know we all loved Dolly as much as you guys do. Yes, sadly, Dolly has moved on to a better place but leaves us with beautiful, timeless music in her memory. RIP Dolly.

I remember when she got her start with Porter Wagoner way back in the 60s. I used to listen to them on my way to work every night and watch them on tv. Even then as a young kid she had the makings of a super star. She made it in spades. Miss you, girl.

My wife and I drive to Colorado to see her in concert in @2016. I am not a huge fan but I do like enough of her music. I was extremely impatient impressed by the way she worked with the crowd, told experiences and the reasons she does certain things. She had a lot of energy-charisma. It was a good show and we had a great time.
