Hey everyone, I just returned from the Eastern Cape. This time I took my .300 Win mag, using Federal premium 200 grain, Terminal Ascent. Six (6) animals six (6) shots. All smoked didn't move. The bullets performance was outstanding. Perfect mushrooms and weight retention of 95%. The pictures below are from 2 Wildebeests. Both frontal shots, and both found in the rear hams. Great bullets!

Excellent, I think the Terminal ascent is the TBBC with a polymer tip on it and I wished they sold it as a reloading component.

Edit - I just found you can order them direct from federal for reloading.
 
I had a similar experience last year with the same bullet out of my 300 Win as well. Blue wildebeest and a red heartabeast. Preformed flawlessly.
 
2 caribou, 2 aoudad, dall sheep, elk, whitetail deer (multiple), mule deer, pronghorn, blue wildebeest, black wildebeest, blesbok, lechwe, waterbuck, kudu, eland, gemsbok, springbok all with the 300 win 200 grain Terminal Ascent. 15 yards to 420 yards. Flawless performance and its a shooter. I've shot with bow, muzzleloader and a random assortment of other rifles and cartridges - but in the "need it done right" category - this is my go-to.
 
My wife is locked in on the 175’s for her .308

Her Impala and Eland were not match for it, and even though it’s overkill on our Hill Country whitetail her rifle shoots it so well that we have no intention of swapping.
 
You really couldn’t ask for better performance than what you had. Glad there is a top notch option loaded by a big brand.

Perfect - I purchased the 155 7mm, and the 136 .277 from Federal.
 
I have used the Terminal Ascent 175gr 308 ammo for over 60 animals and probably around 40 species from duiker sized to Eland size animals. It has been a fantastic round.

I wish they sold it in many other calibers.
 
Outstanding. The 155gr in 7mm Rem Mag made short work of 5 Arkansas whitetails last fall, albeit at short distances <100 yards. All shoulder shot, DRT or short tracking job.

I feel like the progression with this Bullet was:
Trophy bonded bear claw --> Trophy Bonded Tip --> Terminal Ascent.

I did not use the TBBC, but I did use the TBT a lot before the the TA and it was also an awesome round. My experience so far has been that the TA has the same performance as the TBT but better accuracy (which was already good for a hunting round).
 
Please show us how the ammo groups! This prose suggests (factory ammo) can be shot out to 1,250 yds. Hmmm. What really killed the animals is the fact that the SD of 200 gr bullets in .30 cal is 0.301 (just like the tried-and-true Nos PT-our favorite bullet for PG in Africa) which results in good penetration. Love 300 WM (have always had one since age 16!)

It is the single best shooting bullet out of my .300 win mags. Other bullets shoot well out of one or two but not all of my rifles...except this load. It is a TACK-Driver. I haven't shot it over 200 yards but then i rarely shoot over that but even at that range, i'm sub MOA if i do my part.

I am at the age now that i am the biggest liability, not my gear. I buy quality and buy once and cry once at this point in my life.

I can't recommend this round highly enough. I also LOVE the TBBC for the medium and big bores. It isn't talked about much but it is a heck of a bullet. I'd put it up against an A frame any day. I think i am indifferent between an A-Frame, a TBBC or a Woodleigh for medium to big bore.
 
The Terminal Ascent bullet is hands down one of, if not the best bullet hunting bullet on the market. It’s the first bullet I try in a new rifle or caliber. I’ve used it in my 280AI, 300WM, 308Win, 6.5CM, and 270. I have a Pre64 M70 3006 that unfortunately didn’t shoot them as well as I’d have liked (2” group) but shout 3/4” groups with the federal loaded TSX’s.

In the bigger calibers TBT or TBBC are my go to. The 250 and 300gr TBBC in my 375H&H is my preferred load and has more kills than any other bullet or rifle I own. With TA projectiles becoming more readily available, I’ll start handloading them for some other calibers.

The ammo is very accurate. I zero at 100yds and dial. The attached target photo is 100 yards. This bullet has shot less than MOA out of both my .300 WM and my 7mm Rem Mag.

Labor Day sales are coming up. I’m looking for some of this to hopefully try in two different rifles.
