Good Gun Deals This Week

This seems like a lower ask than I would think, if the provenance is there. A left hand 9.3/404 from Col. Charles Askins. Cool piece from a collecting or historical perspective, but maybe I’m the only one who thinks so since they’re offering an option for a new 404 J barrel as well.

Wildcat Caliber and LH Rife doesn’t equal a quick sale regardless of provenance, it’s someone super famous and the buyer wants it for a collection.

For a Lefty who wants a 404J this isn’t a bad option with the replacement barrel.

And it's a Weatherby action (push feed).

Mauser TypeC on Gunbroker.
I don't have a 'C' and would snap this one up if it didn't have the holes...
But, of course, it would be more $$!

Still, a good pre WW1 Oberndorf in the venerable 30govt'06 and this exact rifle is detailed in Speed's "Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles" book correctly identified as a TypeC!

For the rifle itself, nothing special, but you don’t see Askins’ stuff for sale every day.

Yes but most don’t know who he is or care. Only adds value to a specific collector who also happens to need to be a Lefty … pool of buyers shrinks further.

For the avg lefty who’s gonna swap barrels it’s a decent buy. For a LH collector it’s a good buy, especially if they reload

If anyone is interested, I spotted this very clean example of a 1962 Browning Safari Grade in 30-06 at the Bass Pro in Allen, Texas yesterday. The price of $999 isn't a steal, but probably fair market for someone who wants one.

Think of it as a .243 Win. Ammo can be found. It needs a little TLC and I don’t love the scope mounts, but hard to find a cheaper Holland take down

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I just checked GI, and Cabelas has four Rigby bolt guns. Each is around 15K. Head's up!

Oh, yeah. They're all in 404 Jeffrey. $15,999.99.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
