That’s my dream rifle there, congrats sir.
The petite, fine stocks of old are so much better to handle and shoot with than modern clumsy and beefy stocks. My 130 year old Lee speed is very similar and it’s such a delight to carry and use.
I’m sure it’ll give you many years of enjoyable shooting and hunting.

Agree!! These old Rigbys (and, by the way,the Huskvarnas 46, 146 y 246) have a much nicier stocks than the new Rigbys! I don't know why they did not copy those!

Those peeps are pretty great, very svelte.
Very common on pre WW2 British stalking rifles in 275 and 303 . Common on Rigbys , Westley Richards and Lee Speed rifles . Wildly optimistic in my opinion . Here’s one on a Lee Speed - fixed for 100 yards , folding for 200 and 300 yards then a ladder sight in 100 yard increments to 1000 . Seriously ?

I’ve shot mine to 400y, didn’t get near the target.
It was from a time of transitional warfare. Volley firing was on its way out as these guns came in and some features overlapped. Do I use the magazine cutoff? No…but I love to have it!

Given the age of your rifle I suspect the rifling isn’t worn at all but rather it is Metford (polygonal ) rifling . All of my pre WW1 rifles - including a Purdey , 2 x Westley Richards , 2 x Lee Speeds have Metford rifling . Check the rifling again - I suspect you have a much better rifle than you might think .

All Rigby 7mm Mausers were imported from Germany already as barreled actions. Mauser never made Metford rifled barrels AFAIK.

What a treasure! The provenance is just as exciting as the rifle. The peep sight and the front sight set up is nice!

It is very nice to see these historic, interesting, survivor rifles. Although it fits ok in a Husky 46/146 stock, quite similar barrel profile and whatnot, in my view it deserves an alcanet soaked Ruglans Regia walnut stock with proper Rigby lines.
yes the early husky were rigby stepchildren
