I head to Cape Town with a 3 day layover in September for hunt in Namibia. Are the reports of Rising Xenophobia and Anti-Migrant Protests and riots a real threat?

My extended family is worried but there has been some unrest reported on all my trips to Africa. Is this just USA media hype or a real concern?

Anyone recently travel to South Africa and how safe was it currently? Cape Town?

From my underatanding its mostly focused towards other blacks from other african countries taking their jobs not so much white tourists.
That is my understanding also but just checking to reassure family of the situation. Hopefully everything will be okay. I also seeing reports of higher crime than normal.

It is hard to know what is real from a distance.

I don't think South Africa is any more dangerous than normal. We always avoid dodgy areas when there anyway. I have family all over SA and all are carrying on with life as normal.

And you and everyone in grp will be strapped so its basically +1 to the hunt if things get spicy.

Yes, I was there during an election which always seems intense with demonstrations, marches, car fires, and sometimes riots. We just avoid those areas in Johannesburg.

You will be so fine, especially being in cape town! Enjoy your trip

I'm here today. We drove from way up north to JNB airport. Today is some sort of strike day, but the roads are pretty quiet. Reports of unrest and some violence near the city center of Johannesburg but no problems going to or in the airport, or from limpopo. The driver said it was unusual for all the small towns to be shut down like it was a Sunday.

Any updates from recent trips to South Africa? I heard from a friend that just returned. They said that the violence had increased especially South Africans toward immigrants from other African countries. They were worried about traveling in South Africa, but they are from Kenya.

What have you recently experienced?

There has been unrest in Africa since Africa was invented. I felt safer there than the last time I went to Memphis.

Sounds a lot like Philly....

East Indians take it on the chin too from time to time. Especially shopkeepers. They have been there since the gold/diamond rush era.

I just returned from two weeks in the east cape via Cape Town. All is well.

Wait; I thought South Africa was going to be a utopia when it changed to black rule.
Don't you mean "majority rule" as opposed to "white rule"?

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. My pedantic tendencies are strong.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.
