New SA traveler declaration

I finally got thru all the info they wanted until it was time to send it to them, I was surprised it did not allow me to enter how much cash I was carrying. I think I will put everything all the way to the end and see if it goes and if I get an email back, if I don't fly I guess it will not make a difference. just make this a trial run. well folks I just went in to it put all information in and took it to the end and put travel date for tomorrow and click the final thing it went thru and just got an email saying thank you and go to the green line. to bad I will have to do again in Sept when I do fly out.

If you can’t get it done before departure you will still be allowed entry to SA per the SARS website. Form will have to be completed on site and I can only imagine the line for that process would be looooong and painful.
 
I'm off for SA on the 24th and I really hope they get this sorted out by the time I leave.

That's what mine said. I think you are probably good to go. I seriously doubt anyone is looking at this information anyway. I'm going to the green line when I get there and we'll see what happens. I leave on the 26th. I'll report back then.

Can you print the form ahead of time and bring it with you pre-filled out in hard copy?

What is funny is that this has been in the works since early last year at least. They soft pushed it at times with Delta. And then they make it mandatory and still don't have basic kinks worked out. Very typical of governmental nonsense. Oh well, might make the lines take longer but I'm guessing it won't be the end of the world.

Am I understanding you correctly that you had to say that you were flying out the next day to make it work? If that's the case it's like pre-check in where they want you to complete it within about 24 hours of flying?

yes you can only print it out 24 hours BEFORE your departure day
 
From the SARS FAQs:

Q5: When must I submit the online declaration?​

You must submit the online declaration no more than 24 hours before departure from the country from which you are travelling. If you are travelling to South Africa on a journey with stops, the declaration must be submitted no more than 24 hours before departure on the last leg of your journey directly to South Africa.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how stupid it is to require this less than 24 hours before and then also make it specific to 24 hours before your last leg of the journey? Only a government could do this good of a job at doing things so poorly.

That is why I feel the “help” line for those that did not complete before landing will be long. This process reminds me of when the guys from corporate would come on site and tell everyone they are not sure what they are looking at but they are here to help.
 
Just traded WhatsApp messages with my PH, he has folks in camp currently that have been through the process. The hunters input was to fill out on laptop as it easier to navigate, 24 hours before departure. Hunters said they got no confirmation back online and when they went through customs was not asked about it. :unsure:
I will fill out morning I leave out to check the box and travel on.
 
Huge thanks to Hyde Hunter. He walked me through it and it can be done. It is tricky and your nationality is the most important question. Go figure.

I'm in eastern cape now. I filled out the forms for the three adults traveling. No one asked and Customs was about 45 seconds for each of us. Flew BA. Into joberg.
