Tattoos... advice from those so adorned

not ment to offend, only show what some would call art.
@leslie hetrick
Might be art but ruins what is a reasonable body. The pumped up breast detract from the appeal as well to me.
Call me old fast but if God had wanted women to have half cantelope rock hart tits they would have been born with balloons pre inserted to keep them happy. Natural is beautiful not pumped up and painted.

I’m probably late to the game but I would recommend getting a tattoo if you’re interested, I and several of my family have them and more keep accumulating. It is a lost cause that it is socially unacceptable and as far as changing with age that is something that happens to us no matter what we plan. It is an interesting way to note life’s momentous events

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen - I agree with you “mostly” however it’s like selecting a caliber for hunting Buffalo….”too Big” is never a problem (Unless you can’t handle it). Bob, is this one of the exceptions where you prefer a .243 size??

Make sure you tell your artist EXACTLY what you want. If you have an idea or a drawing that you want exactly, then it needs to be done that way. DO NOT EVER settle. It's your tattoo. That said, if you have an idea and you give the artist free range, make sure you're both on the same sheet of music. Tattooing is an art and every artist views art differently. Don't just go with an artist because they're the only one available in your area. We're in Tennessee (grew up in WI). Wisconsin is where my wife's artist is. She won't let anyone but her artist touch her. So she makes it a point if we go back home and she wants some new ink, she'll get in touch with him. She won't let anyone in our area touch her.

Ask to see past work. Like any regular painting/drawing artist, tattoo artists have certain things they're really good at and other not so much. Make sure you find an artist who's past work really meets your needs. If I wanted a life-like portrait of a face, say of my kids, I'm going to find a portrait style artist. Not one that's good at abstract things or maybe nature style things. So if you want a lifelike animal for your Africa inspired tattoo, make sure the artist is a portrait artist. If you want a cartoon'ish style animal, find an artist that's good at those things.

Also, understand that lines and colors will bleed over time. So when you look at things like smaller letters, etc., they're going to become blurry over the years. So really have the discussion with your artist on what things will look like down the road. It's always going to look amazing coming right off the table but what will it look like 20 years from now. Ask me how I know.

All of that said, tattooing is an addiction. Generally, once you get one, you're going to keep coming back for more. Enjoy the process and enjoy your new artwork!

@HankBuck
I still prefer bigger than a 243.
A 243 is useless on anything, a 577&600 is overkill but the Whelen or a nice 40 cal are the baby bear of cartridges for buffalo, just right.

Boobs come in 5 sizes small, just right, big ones and whoppers and Oh my god. I prefer just right

I once had a girlfriend that asked what size boobs I like.
I told her more than a handful of mouthful is a waste, that's why I have big hands
That quick witted lady promptly turned around and said yes and you have the mouth to match.

A nice natural D cup is about ideal.
The older I get the more I admire the softness and sutbleness of a more mature woman.

Guns like women you find the ideal size that suits most of your requirements. That's why I like the 35s and my wife. Both ideal, just the right size for my needs and tastes. No skinny useless 243s or overkill 45-50cal women for me. Same in rifle choices. Nice to have a nice fast 25 but the Whelen is my comfort zone do all..
If my wife saw me looking at a fast slim 25 cal woman she would belt me all shades of black and blue.

A few stories to add:
My Dad called me once and said he got a tattoo of a cactus with a buffalo skull underneath it and freedom lost under the tat.
I asked him why and he said it is a political statement, I said at 70 years old, shooting a politician is a political statement not getting a tattoo! lol
My ex wife told me while I was away for a job that she got a tattoo of a mouse, but wouldn’t tell me where. I was pissed off for a week and finally got home and told her to show me the tattoo, she started pulling her pants down and I was getting even more pissed that she let someone near that thing! Finally she had her pants down mid thigh and I said where the hell is it, she pointed just to the side of her cootchie and I said where, she looked down and said well shit, looks like that pussy ate that mouse! I wasn’t to amused by it.
A bar that I drank at nightly in Houston had a sexy little gal that was in her mid 20s. She was a little on the slutty side as well. She told me to look at her new tattoo, it was damn near a whole page above her butt! She asked what I thought? I said well I guess the boys have something to read while they are in the shitter!

I joined the Marines in 1965 when I was 18; guaranteed trip to Nam. First stop was MCRD San Diego, then ITR Camp Pendleton; got our first leave there for a few hours in Oceanside. Oceanside has few activities for young untried Marines [called TURDs]; bars, jewelry stores, whores and tattoo parlors. Well we, me and 4 other TURDs, got pretty stink'n drunk and somehow I ended up in the chair ready to get a Devil Dog tattooed on my shoulder. I'm happy to report that when that f**ker started coming at me with that tattoo gizmo I aborted mission, bolted from the chair and out the door. To this day I look upon this as one of my finest hours; coming to my senses in a weak state of mind and with a cadre of TURDs egging me on.

Sounds like the "perfect" thing to do at this point in your life. :oops: After all, that nearly sixty year old, taught healthy skin really shows them off. Also, at our age, our resistance to infection isn't quite what it once was. I would strongly recommend a really good scotch instead.

Those symptoms sound just peachy! I may have to go get my 1st tat.
