Well, what kind of friend I would be if I talked to you out of not getting that 404 J. We don't buy rifles/handguns/shotguns because we need them. If that was the case, we would only have two or three. We buy them to scratch that itch, and to satisfy that want. I'm sure it is a beautiful rifle, and if you can afford it, I would strongly say. Buy it! Life is too short to have regrets.
 
Look, if it really bugs you that much, just buy it and ship it to me. I'll treat it well, feed it, take care of it, pamper it, and even use it.
 
I have very few rules in life but one of them is to not talk people out of buying guns. Want a Hi-Point? Buy it. Want a 404J? Buy it.

Sounds like you should pass as you are not in need. Pass the great deal on to others in need. :-). Just a voice of reason.
 
Just go ahead and get the Rigby in 404 Jeffery. I would love to have one myself one day. To me a basic Rigby in 404 is as close to an old British working bolt action rifle as you can get now. Just oozes class and safari romance. You need your name in the Rigby log book four times anyway! I doubt there are many people who are in it four times and after all you are a rare bread anyway. Might as well live up to your name! Haha

If you don’t buy the gun how are you going to feel in two years when you think back on passing. My guess is you don’t want to live with that regret.

I saw an original .405 Winchester 1895 with the express sights..didn’t buy it, only $2k AUD. Good bore. I still think about that rifle and it’s been over 5 years. Don’t ever let one slip by..
 
Hold out for a 416Rigby and if you want a 404J wait to get one may by Jeffrey.
 
Sounds like you’re a real rigby aficionado, if that’s your thing, probably best to just embrace it and buy another.
 
You are very sick. Very very sick. You need a 12 step program.
Step one - sell me your two Highland Stalkers.
Step two - Take the money and buy Tesla stock. You will be very happy.
Step three - Sell that stock and buy back those rifles.
Step four - Take the profits and buy the .404 Jeff Big Game.
Step five - Make amends by going to Africa and shooting lots of big animals with big horns and claws.
Step six - Come home and plan your next trip.
Step seven - Tell the kids their inheritance is some really good taxidermy and that the favority kid gets his/her pick of your rifles.
Step eight - Remind your wife that this is "just a phase you are going through" and you will be fine
Step nine - Call your booking agent and buy your plan tickets
Step ten - Force yourself to go back to Africa
Step eleven - Do not expect anyone to be at the airport when you get home.
Step twelve - Do it all again and never regret spending money on something you really want!

As they say, when you die, your wife and kids will sell all of your stuff and fly business class everywhere.
