Merkel 140 reviews

20 yard target. Free style form. CED Timer. Off the belt with reload attempt. No where near, not even remotely close to the 5 Seconds guideline from the Speed Thread. Initial splits are not terribly awful. Executing reload is where the wheels fall off……..but the old adage of “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time”…………
My advice would be practice reloads with snap caps then just over and over without worrying so much about time and shooting.
Slow is smooth smooth is fast. Muscle memory is name of game

Based on the targets I shot it looks to me like Merkel has regulated the .470 to cross at 80+ yards (maybe specific to my handloads). At 50 yards the right barrel stays right and the left barrel stays left. At 100 yards the bullets appear to have just crossed. More 100 yard testing is on the schedule.

Can anyone tell me if the 140 comes with ejectors or is it an extractor gun?

The House of Merkel 140 AE is available with either ejectors or extractors but it is not available with a selector switch.

Opinions on this rifle please. Yes, I know It’s not a heym or VC but is it dependable.
House of Merkel 140AE:
Anson & Deeley Box Lock Action
Greener Locking Cross Bolt
Double Bite Underlugs
Monoblock Barrel Joining
Manual Safety
Articulated Front Trigger
Made Completely In-House

Heym 88B & 89B:
Anson & Deeley Box Lock Action
Greener Locking Cross Bolt
Double Bite Underlugs
Shoe Lump Barrel Joining
Manual Safety
Articulated Front Trigger
Made Completely In-House

A huge plus for the Merkel is the Greener cross bolt. As with the Heym you can therefore sleep easy on the problem of barrel opening. It seems to be a no-nonsense simple double, I would take it second to the Heym over any of the manufactured brands.
I agree with Kevin. I own a K-gun, and I wish I'd bought a Heym or a Merkel

My understanding is that the "E" in the name means Ejector
