If only it were a lefty I would have bought it years ago.
I'm sure a lefty will come along at some point. As the seller would know, we are picky, and most of us that don't settle for right-handed equipment realize we are forced to custom build it, so most don't search the internet for something like this. I still think someone that wants to experience the magic of a finely crafted double but doesn't want the weight and bulk of a larger framed gun nor needs a dedicated stopping round, this is a perfect option with some old school nostalgia.
Not disputing any of that for sure. Just saying that most of us acquiesce to building from scratch, and yes, of course there are fewer of us. As an example, if I were to venture into the double game, even though I personally have no "need" to, even though I think they are fantastic for their intended purpose and would love to have one, I wouldn't even think to search the classifieds. That makes your scaling above on timing even more difficult to predict. I hadn't realized it's been over a year already. I'm actually a bit shocked by that.I've sold 3 Heyms in my life and my son has sold one. Average time on market was 2 weeks. (all righties) Left-handism in all its forms is roughly 11% of the population, but even some of those are right eye dominant or just shoot righty. So lets say 5% of the market. 1/20th of the market. Let us assume that it takes 20x longer to sell a lefty gun in that case. So instead of 2 weeks, it should take 40 weeks.
This rifle has been marketed for 54 weeks, so clearly there is something about lefty buyers that is different than right handed buyers. We can't blame it on being a Heym, one of the easiest rifles to sell and the one that holds its value better than all others. Also the least expensive truly reliable, professional grade double rifle ever made.
Agree with Rookhawk but at some point price has to come into this. $42K is apparently too much. Please remember while I know economics say it is not the cost but what is the market willing to bare…it appears not this asking price. Just me as much as I respect Heym and this appears to be an awesome riffle it is too high. As an example look back at the Heym @rookhawk sold that had incredible engraving an incredible once in a lifetime rifle…I believe it went for somewhere between $32k to $36k and just me no disrespect to the seller a much nicer rifle. Just my perspective having owned 8 DRs. GLWS!!!I've sold 3 Heyms in my life and my son has sold one. Average time on market was 2 weeks. I’ll disagree with part of your math. Some right handers are left eye dominant and shoot lefty so that mostly cancels out the lefty’s who shoot right.I've sold 3 Heyms in my life and my son has sold one.
