Reef donkeys. He’s one “happy” dude. Happier than I would be having to pull a couple of those rascals off of the bottom.

Fishing at Paradise Cay at Tiburon today:

Couple strippers and a keeper halibut.

Caught a lot of shakers of each kind

Spent a few nights gigging flounder in the bay, unfortunately the wind I’d going to come up this weekend and the water will get dirty and kill the visibility.

I am curious if anyone staged in the gulf near Oman or Yemen are targeting Giant Trevally an apex predator fish of the region. A great place for some sought after shallow water game fish. People travel along way to catch one

My addiction has finally led to taxidermy. I told myself long ago I'd get a repro of some fish some day. Last year I caught a fair amount of butterfly peacock bass in south Florida, the biggest of the bunch was a respectable 4 pounder. I knew it was the one I wanted to represent for the species. I took plenty of photos, measured it and remeasured it to be honest and got in touch with a very good local taxidermist, New Wave Taxidermy.
Here's the end result which arrived today. They nailed it.
It brings back plenty of memories.

Went 1st time this season, last Saturday, up to a favorite spot with daughter and pooch. Water condition was good but too cold from snow melt- couldn’t interest a single look. :) pic below

Noticed the grayling on the Naknek post/pic. Will be there in couple weeks for rainbow opener. Hope the rainbows are smolting!

Was snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef last year and had a group of 40#’ers cruise by at 20’. Was pretty cool. Quite a few are caught from Kenya to Mozambique if you want to add fishing to a hunting trip.

Fished the Naknek and some tributaries this week. Rainbows were doing a little bit of everything. These two, almost 30” and 27 1/2” on a size 18 copper neon nymph sumthin’ or other? Some fish still colored up like these two and some bright chrome.

We got a pretty good east wind that silted up the river. Tomorrow is dock day and then it’s time to hit the mighty Naknek again!

Those are some hogs! Resident river Rainbows?

Yes, they are considered post-spawn residents. They’re not sea run steelheads. They move seasonally back and forth between the lake and the river.
