25lber caught on a recent charter on the California Dawn 2. Got a last minute invite to fish with a couple co-workers. Nice to get paid to fish! Long boat ride from the SF Bay to Point Reyes but worth it -Boat had about 1 1/2 fish per rod.

I rarely go on local fishing charters because I have my own boat. If you are ever in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Cal Dawn 2 is a big, fast, comfortable catamaran that has a galley and a great cook. Great captain who knows how to catch fish!

I've never eaten Cobia. I've seen them and we've caught them, but they were too small. Amber Jack is great smoked to make fish dip.

@Rem280 , that’s a great haul! I like the Louisiana snapper limits, we’ve been stuck on 2 for years. Were you able to keep the AJ?

AJ’s cut into 1” cubes, breaded lightly and deep fried are great. Of course you can make a buzzards intestines taste good by deep frying. So low bar.

But early In the season. AJ’s can be tasty.

I new it was closed here, was just curious if Louisiana had a different season than us, I have heard that the Gulf states are really pushing for more state control of the amberjack and trigger fish.

Dang! I thought we had it bad roughly 30 miles at 170 degrees puts us on the 100 fathom curve , get a lot of wahoo, black fin and dolphin along with a few white marlin and sailfish. When the water is right blues as well. Yellowfin about 60 miles due south around the deep water rigs and drill ships.
Of course we get a lot of BF, wahoo and dolphin closer in but it’s more consistent along the curve.

Introducing our youngest rugrat to fishing. Just turned 5.
Only small pelagics like scad available here wading the beach, Davao Gulf. She really got into the casting with assistance and reeling in by herself.

I think you're referring to the Kenai river. I was fishing the Russian river.
