EuroOptic Nonsense

I have been fortunate leaving a sign on the front door, signed, asking that they leave it.
They are in a hard position in asking UPS to leave it and then porch pirates get it and you call them for another one.
It is a lose lose situation.
I wish you good luck as Eurooptic does a good job.
You may want to consider Doug at Cameraland in NYC. He does a great job as well.

I guess it is all about prespective. As a young man things were ordered by PHONE and took 6-8 WEEKS for delivery. That was in the 80s and even early 90s.

I did before I posted. I gave him 30 minutes or so, but they likely shut down for the weekend since on EST. I may be overblowing the situation due to blowing off two meetings today to make sure I was here for delivery, but I am pissed (technical legal term). It takes a lot to get me pissed, but when I promise someone something for a hunt at my ranch, I get pissed when a vendor doesn't come through.
If you got to blow off two meetings maybe you should be thanking EuroOptik lol. Sorry, I hate meetings.

Mistakes can happen from either shipper or shipping service.

I dont mind posts like this as we get to see the response from the others side. How @EuroOptic responds here could make this into a very positive outcome.

I have a lot of empathy for your aggravation since I've been in similar situations. For future reference it appears that Eurooptic has somewhat restrictive / protective regulations for shipping higher-valued items: https://www.eurooptic.com/shippingterms

If you call them before you place the order, that there may be some adjustments that can be made by customer service before shipping. But I'm sure that wasn't obvious at the time you placed your original order so that's cold comfort now. I think shipping it to a UPS Access Point (e.g. a UPS store, a CVS locker, etc.) like @Laura AK64north suggested in her post would be the option that works best for me if I wasn't sure I was going to be available to sign for it.

AFTER 1ST DELIVERY ATTEMPT YOU MISS, TRACK THE PACKAGE ONLINE AND CHANGE DELIVERY ADDY TO ONE OF THE UPS STATIONS OR CVS PHARMACY NEAR YOU AND WHEN THEY EMAIL ITS READY FOR PICKUP YOU CAN DO AT YOUR LEASURE.

I should subscribe to the 24 hour cooling off period, but I am pissed! I ordered a scope from EuroOptic on May 22, 2026, and delivery was attempted yesterday. I paid the premium ($20.25 for shipping protection) as suggested. I was not here for delivery yesterday, but notification from UPS states delivery will be attempted on the next delivery day (obviously today). In short, a delivery from a May 22, 2026 order isn't (attempted to be) delivered until May 28, and then as nobody was here to accept delivery, I sat here in my office ALL DAY staring out the window to make sure I did not miss delivery. Here it is 6:00 CST so I called UPS to see when the driver would arrive and was told that the seller "requested return" due to "service interruption"!

I purchase a lot of glass and dare say I have likely bought $10K in glass over the last year or so from EuroOptic (in fairness, some I attribute to EuroOptic may have actually been from Optics Planet), but suffice it to say I purchase a lot from EuroOptic. They have been my go to since a transition from Doug at CameraLandNY over the last several years, but this is truly ridiculous. I pulled a Kahles off one of my Johannsen's for service and promised a friend I would have another scope on it for our "Block headed German hog hunt" tomorrow evening/Sunday am. Well, looks like that won't happen.

I post this for therapeutic purposes, but also as a what in the world question. Has anyone had a similar situation where delivery was attempted one time and then return was immediately requested from EuroOptic? If this is the case, I am flat out done from ordering from them. I need a Snickers, admittedly, but this is nonsense.
I'm sorry it took me so long to see this, Alas I was out of the office on Friday chasing turkeys here in PA..

Any order over $500 placed on the website will require a signature upon delivery, We have found this significantly cuts down on credit card fraud, as well as helps both parties involved very heavily should a package be stolen or come up missing.

However, we are aware this can be a headache for some of our customers
If anyone would like to place an order, and ensure that there is no signature requirement / any special shipping instructions - just shoot me a message or give us a call at the number listed in my signature, I will ensure the order goes thru seamlessly
AH Members that order thru me ( Jake ) directly; also enjoy AfricaHunting.com pricing on 90% of our products!

I see you wrote me a message on Friday, I will be looking into this order & be in touch with you shortly.

One important thing in regard to deliveries that require signature is extra tracking via signature. In my case there have been countless packages delivered down the street to a neighbor that has a similar address. I have had packages delivered to me where the actual addresses are miles away.

One might not have porch pirates in one's neighborhood, but it does not hundred percent guarantee that the delivery will be to the correct address. Signature requirement reduces the chance of the item being delivered to the wrong address.

Heck, I have a 57" monitor being delivered via Fedex tomorrow. I got multiple text messages from Fedex that I can waive signature requirement and have the guy just drop it off. I will be at home to sign for it as I don't want to take a chance.

Thanks much, Jake. I appreciate the reply and glad someone gets out of the office on Friday.

You (in our call a moment ago) and Chris (I believe) indicated the issue was UPS. As noted, UPS told me return was specifically requested by EuroOptic. You established the issue was due to UPS. I guess the title should seemingly be UPS nonsense. Especially given they doubled down and told me the request for return was made by Europtic. Apologies. Will send a more detailed reply and thank you later. As mentioned a moment ago in our call, just getting called back for a court proceeding. I started this reply thinking the judge may be running late—he wasn’t. :-)

Consider yourself fortunate. Wait until she steps up to the Hermes/Birkin. :-). Noted. I should have taken a 24 hour cooling off period. Just going by what UPS told me as EuroOptic is not available. UPS told me the "seller" requested return after one delivery attempt. I don't know how that could be inaccurate, but that is what I was told by UPS. Carry on. Good day to all.
Almost guarantee this is a UPS issue! Delivery services are horrible. USPS lost 2 packages for me in the last 3 weeks, and both had delivery "protection" which I've yet to receive a dime from and have been extremely difficult to deal with. Both orders were from companies I've used for years. Last week a third package which took forever to come the short distance from Grand Junction Colorado to my ranch was further delayed several days and when tracking alert stated delivery was attempted at 6:43AM and a notice was left in the mailbox. I called BS on it as my security system video documented that there was no activity at the gate where the mailbox is, drove the 1/3 mile to the gate and there were no tracks or evidence of any notice.
Personally, called the Postmaster in town (28 miles away) to discuss the issue and after being on hold for about 3 min he contacted the Rural Carrier who hadn't even left on his route yet. Needless to say, the 5 ranches around me are arranging a video conference with the Regional 6 State Postal Director for all the issues we have encountered since USPS took over Amazon deliveries, this was arranged by our US Senator. USPS took over delivery of Amazon from UPS for less money than UPS who was losing their shirt.
UPS has improved a little, USPS can't even put first class mail in the correct rural boxes which has caused my neighbors to frequently have to deliver wrongly placed mail to other neighbors including me.

I’ve placed one order with EuroOptic. Purchased a scope on sale and had immediate buyer remorse. Procrastinated for a week then called. Great communication, gave me full refund for store credit, purchased a much better scope. Very smooth, very friendly, great communication and customer service. Sorry for anyone whose experience was less than they expected, but thought I should share my experience was great. Also, second scope was nearly half off.

This is not a Euro Optic issue it's a delivery service issue, these problems drive me nuts. I have experienced exactly what you have experienced several times before. I now have all these type of deliveries to my work place where someone can receive the item at any time.

It's hard to contact USPS / FedEx or UPS to locate your item, confirm a new delivery window etc, this is very frustrating just as life is with so many "automated" type systems where human contact is not available or effective.

My shitty experience with Optics Planet. Ordered scope filled out signature required so I knew when it was delivered, sent to my son's address, somewhere in the order i missed something so when I went back and filled in missing item it reset order form to default address and no signature required. After a few days I checked tracking and it said delivered, called son no scope so I filled a claim with Optics planet (customer service is shit) they said USPS delivered it so they were out of it had to file claim with them. Did that carrier said he dropped it off at my gate which is over 1000' from my house so they said they delivered it and they wouldn't do anything, so I paid $1450 to get a handy. So lesson learned there.

As referenced above, I did speak with Jake and I am completely convinced that it was a UPS issue even though they (UPS) told me otherwise on Friday. “It takes a big man to admit when he is wrong. I am not a big man.” —Irwin M. “Fletch” Fletcher. :) Seriously, in hindsight I wish the title stated, “Issue” as compared with “nonsense” or included UPS. Again, the UPS representative confirmed, although seemingly improperly, that after one delivery attempt EuroOptic made a request to ship the scope back. He was pretty convincing.

Not unlike surgeon1, I have bought a lot of optics from EO. I should have waited to hear back from them before posting. Apologies again. Service has always been acceptable with good pricing. Even though aware of the discount of many items, I have never previously contacted Jake to seek a discount as what I have purchased was already reasonably priced.

In conclusion, I spoke to Jake for a moment as I was running into a meeting, and he was very professional and apologetic and indicated if he had another one in stock, he would send it out overnight. I was so miffed, mentioned above, due to the fact that I “needed” the scope on Friday as a temp replacement for one am having serviced, but admittedly should have allowed for a cooling off period.

Dictating this quickly to get out of there, but I will request a moderator remove this thread.

Thanks Jake.

Im in the shipping business and unfortunately with all the shitbags out stealing millions of dollars off of porches its the way it is. Also i know ups and Fedex use live updates via text that will include a delivery window. But i do love it when ppl order something and then get pissed at the delivery driver that they weren't home…. I deal with it hundreds of times a week. Maybe tip the delivery driver like you all do for every other service or go get a job as a delivery driver. Or go to the store. Bet you won’t bitch again!!

Exactly. We live on a place well out in the country and the mailbox and front gate are a 1/4 mile from the house. On everything requiring a signature, we watch the tracking carefully. Unless a new driver, everything gets delivered to the houses, signature or not. Even with a substitute, FEDEX, UPS, USPS, Amazon, and DHL are very easy to track and know when the item will be delivered. We have or had regular FEDEX, USPS, and UPS delivery guys. They get a hundred dollar bill at Christmas.

More than anything, I appreciate the chance to make this right
Honestly, I kind of enjoy threads like these ; Regardless of the outcome, I get a chance to put my / EuroOptics best foot forward and show that we will always have our customers back.

You should have received a tracking number for your replacement scope to your email
Lemme know if there is anything else I can do

Thanks
Jake
