Because you're talking shit. There is nothing wrong with a Blaser in 500 Jeffery.

Kevin,HH, what is that scope? And mounts?
Folks, what DG scope and base can you recommend for the Blaser R8 500 Jeffrey? I am looking for something as compact as possible, low mounting and of course long eye relief to avoid half moons
I would second a Trijicon Credo, I have a 1x4 on my 505.Kevin,
That is the Blaser saddle mount with Tier One tactical rings (6 screws vs the normal 4). The scope is a Trijicon Credo 1-8x 28mm-34mm Tube Matte Black Finish Dual Illuminated Red/Green MRAD Segmented Circle.
Thanks for all the nice comments on the beauty of the stock. As far as the strength of the setup I have absolutely no fear of any issues. Easily have a couple of hundred rounds through it and again it works flawlessly.

Thanks HH, No point in re-inventing the wheel, I'll start looking.Kevin,

Thanks Jeff. Any chance of a pic?I would second a Trijicon Credo, I have a 1x4 on my 505.
I agree in full about ideal bullet speed ...as well as for all other big game round from 9.3 and upwardsI will say that .500 loads with velocity below 2300 fps feel very different than loads over 2400 fps where they start to pick up a nasty edginess. 2250 fps is definitely a shootabily sweet spot.
Yes, steel
The Trijicon Credo is on my 375, the 505 has a Trijicon Accu Point 1x4 as pictured. Thanks Jeff. Any chance of a pic?
All very true. But a charging buffalo will wake you up even more!If you're serious about buffalo and possibly elephant, the Blaser R8 in .500 Jeffery is a legit choice.
It's a tank of a cartridge with excellent penetration, and the Blaser's build quality, modularity, and accuracy are hard to beat. Recoil is stout like you said manageable for most experienced shooters, especially in a good rifle, but it'll wake you up.
Thank you @LimbNoMo, that could be the decider. I seem to be blocked from going on the Trijicon web site, so could I ask you to look up the eye relief of the Credo HX 1-4 and 1-6 please? The longest eye relief scopes I have been able to find in current production are the Leupold VX-3 1.5-5x20 and 2.5-8x36 at 4.4” on minimum power. Most others seem to be around 3.75”.
I’ve got several R8’s including a steel receiver PH with safari barrels in 375, 416 REM and 500 J. It’s reliable. Accurate and shoot able with all those cartridges. I really like it….however if you are looking to buy one. Make sure you get to feel the weight. It’s a great rifle but many find it too heavy. I love mine.Greetings to you all. We have just finished a buffalo hunt, which I will be writing up, but the experience has left me seriously considering a larger calibre rifle, and the one on offer is a Blaser R8 in 500 Jeffrey. I shot one and the recoil was stout, but not extreme. What are your experiences?
There is no Credo HX 1-4x24 available in the US.Thank you @LimbNoMo, that could be the decider. I seem to be blocked from going on the Trijicon web site, so could I ask you to look up the eye relief of the Credo HX 1-4 and 1-6 please?
