The Maneaters of Kumaon has always been a favourite book of mine. Some years ago myself and my wife went to India for a holiday. Part of that was my pilgrimage to Kaladhungi and Nanital where Jim Corbett had both his summer and winter homes.
We met an old man, this was 27 years ago, who remembered him as a young boy. After this we stayed three nights in the Corbett Tiger Park. Never saw a tiger but heard them roar. Saw plenty of other wildlife and rode on a howdah on tame elephants amongst wild elephants.
