I'm back while sorting cleaning and going through my rifles I have a new mystery. I have a factory FN Action and a GR Douglas Barrel in 7 x 61 S&H. No manufacturer for the whole of the rifle that I can find. GR Douglas barrel I get it, they've been doing what the do best since 1948. I cannot separate the action and barrel from the stock to look underneath. What is bothering me is the Douglas Barrel and FN Action are stamped identically in white. Maybe a Flaigs or Herters kit gun? Any ideas or input on this would be appreciated. Thank you

The 7x61 sharp and hart was a pretty rare round that was created shortly before the 7mm REM mag. I doubt it was a kit gun…more likely someone had it created as a custom build on an FN action. It’s a great round and you can get brass from Ravenrock Precision. It’s listed as 7x61 Super.

I have an RF Sedgley in 7x61 S&H. Classic cool.
Thank you so much, I actually sold the rifle just yesterday, I have been slimming the herd. I had 8 with 2 left but I need chamber casting on both of those. On is on a Belgium Mauser action and the 2nd one is a highly customized Arisaka type 38. I'm sure the Arisaka is worth and least $450 on a really really good day.

That’s great. The Belgians made good actions. I especially like the Dumoulin Actions. I have 53 of those actions and 100 receivers to build on. Planning 318 Westley Richard’s builds, 404 Jeffrey, and a bunch of other classics. 350 Rigby, 358 Norma Mag, 7x57, 257 Robert’s, etc

I do know that the barrel and action were joined in Holy matrimony at the GR Douglas factory in February 1967. Beyond that I am pretty clueless who assembled the rest. I believe that the original owner was probably proficient enough to have finished it himself.

That is quite the collection to be proud of. I purchased 8 rifles I believe all were built in the 1950s and 1960s. Only one was true factory rifle was an FN Supreme in 300 Savage. Everything else was custom. 2 where mainstream rounds and 4 were wildcat in their day. I had a 375 H&H built on a Mauser Supreme action, the 300 Savage, A Mashburn 300 Super Magnum, an Atkinson and Marquart 6.5-06 with double set trigger system, a 35 Whelen on a FN action, the 7x61 S&H built on FN Action. I have the 2 remaining rifles of unknown calibers, getting ready to do chamber cast, I'm betting they are wildcats but still not sure. I have a Belgium Mauser action on the European babe and Type 38 on the Arisaka. I bought both of those rifles due to the wood.

I purchased them about 5 weeks ago at an estate sale with the intent of reselling them. I was overwhelmed the gentleman had somewhere between 125 and 150 rifles. There were a lot of various military mausers. I picked what I thought were the best. 2 of the rifles I could have made better choices on the Mashburn and Arisaka. The Mashburn was the only one I lost some money on but the others more than made up for it. If I knew then what I have learned in the last 5 weeks I would have purchased more of his custom rifles. These were truly museum quality pieces. Most were just damn near flawless from 60 to 70 years ago. One commercial buyer purchased 6 of the 8 and they were just fascinated with the overall collection. I have the one custom Mauser left and I may keep her. She is simple, beautiful, pure and European to the core. Like a young woman without make up.

I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
