Does anybody have any experience with downloading an electronic SIM to an iPhone to have coverage while in South Africa?

A recommendation of what carrier to use in South Africa would be appreciated also.

A lady I know in England downloaded a SIM that provided coverage when she was in Thailand.
It was very inexpensive for 30 days and it was seamless as soon as the plane landed in Thailand the phone switched over.

I’ve just switched my phone over to an international plan. I think T-Mobile charged me $50 for 30 days last time. My service seemed to be as good as the locals.

Look at the SIM card offerings from Airalo.

You can also use AT&T’s international day pass for 12.00 a day, I’ve had good success with that in certain countries.

Another option is to rent a phone at the JNB airport. When you walk out into the arrivals hall and turn right to go to the SAPS office, you’ll pass three phone stores.

As @Mark Biggerstaff mentioned, using WiFi in camp is a really great choice. I rely on that more than anything else.

Airalo is the company the lady I know in England used last year in Thailand.
They’re legitimate everything worked extremely well.
Thanks for reminding me of the name of the company.
Now it’s just a matter of seeing how good the coverage is in South Africa.
The price is really reasonable.

just search internet for best esims for south africa, certain esim companies dont cover certain countries. i have used esim in UK and recently in USA and it is easy and works great.
they mainly cover data, not airtime, so just look into that

I don't have an I-Phone, but with my Samsung I downloaded an E-sim with Sailly when I went to South-Africa. It worked flawlessly and it was pretty cheap !

I personally do not use or advise any phone network while on safari. I only use WiFi at the lodge and that is quite enough. It ruins the safari to have your phone ring while stalking that dreamed of kudu! Save money and save the experience.

On my last trip I kept my iPhone in Airplane Mode and only used WhatsApp from the lodge to call home. The cost was free.

I agree with Philip's comment above

In addition to this I just choose to have my own satalitte phone I own turned off until the mornings before I leave then once when I get back to camp. I never depend on any wifi or local coverage. TIA I only trust in not depending on anything but my charged battery. Just me. If you are out in the bush when trouble hits and you ph phone dies not work you can kiss wifii good bye. I want ready access anywhere in the world not depending on anything else. When I go to Africa I will never be penny wise but pound foolish when “Mr Murphy” shows up. Just me

Craig,
I may also take a sat phone to places like Zim but would not consider doing so for RSA. It's just not necessary and that is where most folks are hunting.
I am trying to decide for this upcoming trip whether or not to buy the minutes for the Iridium Extreme or to rely on the iPhone satellite texting feature. I'll be elephant hunting in Zim.
What say you guys?

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
