some of you might recall my Kimber Super America rimfire rifle being severely damaged in shipping. It is my favorite rimfire rifle and I have put many rounds (several thousand) through it. It's the gun I practice the most on sticks with. It was at a gunsmith friend's place to have some magazines repaired as I had about worn them out. When it arrived back to me, I was shocked on opening the box...
We made all kinds of efforts with the shipper to honor the insurance policy and received zero, zilch, nada for having insured the package. That's a whole subject unto itself. My friend who shipped it was horrified at the results and he kindly offered to make it right. He would buy me a replacement rifle or pay for repairs. The problem is I couldn't find any replacement Super America's that had nearly that quality of wood, even at multiple thousands of dollars that used Super Americas are selling for. My friend had an idea and knew of someone who used to build the high end Kimber stocks and is doing stock repairs in his "retirement years". So we boxed it up again with all of the broken pieces and sent it off. I knew better than to ask for constant updates so I just mailed it and wished him luck in his work. That was over a year ago.
