I am truly sorry for those who missed it, but the gold medal game between the US and Canada was as good as Lake Placid's match against the Soviets. It also paralleled it with the game largely saved by the incredible goalie play of Connor Hellebuyk. He blocked 40 of 41 shots on goal. Just amazing play. Much like Jim Craig blocking 36 in 1980. Both Canada and the Soviets generated twice as many shots as the US.

Truly one of the best hockey games I’ve ever watched, even though I was rooting for the losing team. One big difference to 1980, this was truly two of the best teams to ever touch the ice. The speed of play and skill level were beyond belief. Watch a replay of the first US goal. Stick handling in the air between two defenders, seriously???

1980 was different. The US was grossly outmatched in every metric. Their victories were pure magic.

Not mentioned much by the socialists is that most of those “free” health care countries also have private hospital networks for those who can afford the best care and want timely appointments.

Absolutely correct. When I led the division of a Fortune 500 company, our officers were split between the US and Canada. Canadian officers carried supplemental US private care coverage.

I had no idea about this. Canada just doesn’t praise their armed forces enough

Been there…. I was on the bridge of TRIPOLI when PRINCETON struck a mine. “Fighting the sea” (to stay afloat) is where sailors and a few Marines earned their keep.

God bless our Canadian allies!

After Operation Desert Storm began in January 1991, the Canadian Task Group undertook escort duties for hospital ships and other vulnerable naval vessels of the coalition. In February 1991, the cruiser USS Princeton was disabled by two Iraqi mines at the north end of the Persian Gulf. While the Athabaskan was not assigned to the area, the commanding officer of Princeton specifically requested assistance from the Canadian ship as she was the only warship in the region that could simultaneously operate two helicopters. The Athabaskan and her helicopters helped both ships avoid mines until a minesweeper and naval tug arrived to tow the Princeton to safety in an operation that stretched over two days.

Captain Edward Hontz of Princeton was effuse in his praise of the HMCS Athabaskan. “We owe a debt of gratitude for the superb professionalism of those who extracted us from the minefield and delivered us to safe haven . . . to the HMCS Athabaskan for leading the way from the North Arabian Gulf to Bahrain and even more so for the 17 cases of beer sent over by helo today.”

What’s this? Saudis won’t let US use airspace for potential strikes on Iran? Then what in the HE double hockey sticks have we been doing making nice with sharing advanced defense tech, including supporting the Lockheed Martin footprint in the great sand kingdom?

Beer? PRINCETON got beer? TRIPOLI didn’t get any beer…

Pretty simple. Virtually all Saudi oil refining infrastructure, to include the ARAMCO headquarters complex, along with about 40% of the nation's desalination capacity is located in the Eastern Provence of the country and well within range of virtually all of Iran's still huge remaining stockpile of ballistic missiles. Though they have Patriot batteries, their long range THAAD batteries are just beginning to arrive - the first was activated in July of last year. The few available deployable units we have are already in Israel.

I assume we will base tactical Air Force assets at Muwaffaq Salti (Jordan) and Al Udeid (Qatar). The latter is already the regional CENTCOM HQ location. Strategic longer ranged strike assets will stage out of southern Europe and Diego Garcia.

I've read where the US Air Force has moved around 100 aerial tankers (KC-135 and KC-46) to various forward deployed locations. Sounds like the Iran operation could be large and long.

Also read this about the "negotiations:"

Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute, says it looks like Trump may have made his decision.

"It's important to understand that Trump has not engaged in any real diplomacy. Rather, the U.S. delegation has largely showed up at the meetings with demands for Iranian capitulation rather than real engagement. The meetings largely serve to check in to see if Iran is ready to submit to Trump or be bombed," he said. "This is not diplomacy. A deal can be reached, but Trump does not appear to be seriously pursuing it."

Those KC-135 airframes have got
to be getting pretty long in the tooth. What are we doing to keep our tanker capabilities current?

I have said the same thing about bloody Lewis Hamilton whose mother is also white which means he also isn't the first black world f1 champion..here it's still nice and simple...you are black...white or coloured....just how it is and people are described...

There's no such thing as free healthcare.
Well there sorta is, when you take responsibility for your self stay fit eat right ,sleep right, take vitamins and supplements and avoid vacs. I have va gov, social med. for last resort emergencies like when a horse fell on me and broke my leg, but other than that, its sketchy. I have a cabinet full of crap they have issued me, from earlier times before I realized I need to take charge of me. (needs thrown out)

21 year old, Austin Tucker Martin, is the individual who decided to FAFO at Mar a Lago.
His family reported him missing a few days ago

They are rapidly being phased out of service by the KC-46A Pegasus of which a hundred already have been delivered. Boeing used the basic 767 airframe as a starting point dramatically reducing typical acquisition time. Nevertheless, such a program is challenging - Boeing was awarded the program in 2011.

I don't avoid any necessary vaccines. Three decades in the Army and travel all over the Third world during and after should make anyone a believer. More recently, I have had a curious compulsion to avoid both shingles and pneumonia.

On avoiding vaccines, take a look at the number of measles cases that has hit quite a few places. A deasiese that wasn't around until parents refused to vaccinate their children or themselves.

I'm a firm believer in proven vaccines that prevent problems. I had a talk with a friend and we were wondering when polio will rear its ugly head again along with a number of other deasieses that could be prevented.

Not to mention the folks in Yemen who had already targeted the Saudi oil infrastructure in the past.

Correct, but they are the perfect match for the equally old B-52. The Air Force and us taxpayers really got a bargain with both aircraft. My dad flew the prop engine KC-97 for a few years and transitioned to the new KC-135 in the early 1960s.

One of the issues with the KC-46 has been the boom operator is no longer in the tail of the plane, flying the boom visually. The boomer is up front with the pilots and has a TV monitor. Depth perception is poor and has been a problem for connecting to the receiver aircraft.

Same here and I do have the smallpox vaccine scar from my childhood. I am contemplating the shingles vaccine as well, I have seen a few guys that got shingles and were miserable.

I also make sure I am up to date on Typhoid, Tetanus, and Cholera vaccines when I travel to Africa.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
