Shooters under attack in Australia

Whilst I deplore the recent shootings at a Jewish festival at Bondi beach and condemn this act of violence against these or any other people's I deplore the NSW government reaction to legal and licenced gun owner as well.
This act was a terrorist attack and the politicians are saying it's not a gun issue but a terrorist issue.
Despite this they are out to tighten gun control even further to law abiding citizens.
This will limit the amount of guns we can own to 4 .
Lever relt, straight pull and some other types will become Cat C making them almost impossible to own. This even includes the blazer R8.

The stupidity of our government has to be heard to be believed.
They are going to outlaw high capacity belt fed rifles and shotguns. We as hunters and shooters have NEVER BEEN ALLOWED to own belt fed weapons but idiot Joe public doesn't know this and applauds the government decision and will feel safer .
This is another knee jerk reaction by our stupid govt to limit gun ownership because of a terrorist attack.
For more details on our government stupidity you can google the new proposed laws.

My sympathy and the sympathy of all Australian shooters goes out to the families of those killed and injured in this terrible TERRORIST ATTACK.
I will finish by reiterating what some of our saner political people have said. This WAS NOTa gun problem it was a terror problem.
I just hope our shooters fishers and farmers party can reign in some of this government proposed stupidity.

Hunter 4752001, the Victorian situation is soley for the reasons I gave, no other reason and those I know in Vic are still sweating that any change in the current Gov could result in changes, esp if the unions change their stance, though this is not likely. If a Lib govt in elected in Vic at next election they fear that the Libs will clamp down on firearms.

Yes even with that letter from the SA Police Minister, I would not be holding my breath. politicians have been known to do complete turn arounds if it suits them. Also, all the Premier has to do is put in a different Minister as the police minister and can claim they can't be held for what the previous minister claimed. These sort of tricks have happened before today.

You can tell when politicians are lying - when their lips move.

We're safe in Queensland for the time being but interested to see if I can legally transport my Blaser R8 through NSW :A Bang Head:

Fairly much what Pig Iron Bob (Robert Menzies)said.

My wife and I will be allowed 4 firearms each, we currently own 18 between us.
I now have to decide which of my 8 treasured Ruger No1's I'll have to surrender to be cut in half.
I'm 68, hunting and shooting have been my life for 52 years, along side being a professional Fireman for 41 years.
Now I'm considered a threat to society!!
My mental health has, as a consequence of Post traumatic stress, hounded me for years, it sure has gotten worse in the last 6 days.
The future looks rather bleak, after ruining my physical and mental health, trying help society through my work, I am now no better than a criminal!!!!
.And, I didn't do it!!!
This is what led a lot of Europe to shotguns and rifles with switch barrels.

The irony is that the very people who want to restrict firearms ownership are the ones who are opposed to holding criminals accountable for their actions.

When you allow environment to be an absolute excuse for aggressively anti-social behavior, you open the door to hell. People are supposed to overcome hardship, to rise above their previous circumstances, and to strive for self-improvement, not collapse into a pile of aggrieved self-pity wailing about how the world "owes" them. There are a number of crimes that should never be excused, because there are no excuses for committing them. When your run a chop shop, you have made a conscious decision to be a career criminal, and to live as a parasite at the expense of your fellow citizens. That's very different than a teen succumbing to temptation and making a bad decision. The latter just needs to be grabbed by the scruff of the neck and shaken a bit. The former deserves no mercy, nor do professional thieves, armed robbers, or the more heinous offenders.

The road to heaven is giving people freedom, then holding them accountable for their actions. Individuals have agency, and should be expected to use it wisely. The attempt to make the world idiot-proof inevitably leads to the very idiocy the unthinking the policies are intended to prevent.

Consider modern American "justice". If you are a respectable citizen, a criminal conviction, even minor, will have a devastating effect on your life. You are likely to lose your job, and essentially become unemployable in your chosen profession, which will lead to economic and social disaster. On the other hand, if you are personally dysfunctional and already have four or five convictions, you're unlikely to do much time, and there's no meaningful change in your status. We've created an asymmetrical system of punishment that's devastating to the responsible, and insignificant to the criminal, a total inversion of sane policy and values.

You can't make up this stuff.
Agreed, but one thing you need to understand is that it is an evil intentional game plan to subdue the citizenry. By letting criminals out and creating havoc they will then say we have to take your opposing voices, firearms, etc., to regain order. These are evil and malicious minds that have every intention of telling you how to live. Are you going to continue to be nice about it or are you going to fight back? I’d rather be dead than let pieces of shit like that erase life as I know it. Get off your asses, vote, support successful businessmen and others that will get elected and change your laws. These enemy thinks they are smarter and will repress you and feel justified and righteous. Time to smack them bitches down.
Fight, fight, fight. Vote, visit politicians, organize yourselves, etc.etc.,etc. You’re smart and feisty enough to know this. Sorry, but it requires attention and effort. At times we need to engage and sacrifice some time and energy to fight to keep our lifestyles. The time for politeness has passed, put in effort before the time for half measures has passed. Just saying.

@Vinootz
We are! I have never been politically active in my life until now. Possibly too little, too late. I cannot believe the change in Australia in the last 20 years. The "she'll be right mate" attitude persisted way past the turning point - because we didn't recognise the turning point for what it was.

I should have been more specific, I mean the Australian government and their push to disarm their citizens while appeasing islamists.
Correct, it sucks.

The attack was used as a catalyst to enable their preconceived views and legislation.

Politicians are trying to to please the minority groups, or the wrong ones.

I don’t have strong religious or political views but some types are clearly the problem.

I caught up with an old fella from my ADA branch this week.

He read out a short blurb from an English hunting magazine as he travels regularly with his English wife.

In short his point was the English Labor party are enabling more restrictions within legislation.

As both side of politics do. Here in Australia once and Act of Parliament is in power they can add restrictions etc through Regulation. These do not have to go through parliament.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
