Ravin R500E Crossbow Package with Electric Drive, 2 Batteries, Sling, & 7 Bolts

I purchased this bow new and used it very lightly for 2 seasons. Very lightly means I sighted it in, and each of those 2 seasons I shot a 10 point buck and 12 point buck the first day out hunting both years. No exaggeration. So this bow barely seen the woods.

This crossbow is among the fastest ever made, advertised at 500 feet per second. And those two deer I shot were at 50 yd and 75 yds--worked more like a 30-06 than an arrow...

With this type of speed, I knew I should change the string for Year 3 given recommendations in the instruction book. When I took it to the bow shop though, they said it was due for a safety recall (I'm still not even sure for what because it was working fine) and they wouldn't change the string until that safety recall was done. So I had to send it into Ravin for the safety recall work and a new string. It unfortunately took them 6 weeks to get it done, which totally screwed up my bow hunting plans. Kicking myself for not going to bow shop in June instead of August.... So I scrambled and bought a new Ravin crossbow so I didn't have to miss the start of the season. So this one got shipped back to me in November and is now for sale, since I don't need 2 crossbows.

I didn't keep track but I'd estimate that the bow has only had 50 shots total taken in the time I owned it, and is now working with the brand new string put on by Ravin.

So for the package--it's coming with the works. This one comes with the electric drive system, (2) batteries, and a battery charger. If you're unfamiliar with the electric drive, it draws the string back for you--no cranking. Nice if you have health issues or are just a bit lazy! That's a $550 value for the electric drive when you account for both batteries. Keep in mind the electric drive has been discontinued by Ravin (which I don't understand because it is awesome and worked great in my experience).

Also includes 7 bolts and a Ravin sling. Includes instruction books.

Given how lightly this was used, the bow itself is in immaculate/like new condition. If you want additional pictures, I can send anything you want or answer questions.

I have 2 R25’s which came before this model and they are just unbelievable, can’t even imagine how these aren’t even better! Mine have kill 6 elk and the farthest any have gone is 20yds, 3 DIT. I’ve killed a lot of elk in 50+ years and whether it’s been muzzle loader, rifle,handgun, or bow these crossbows are amazing on Elk which can be tough to kill!

I agree. I was always a Mathews guy but my new treestand is not ideal for a traditional compound bow. It was setup better for rifle shooting, which a crossbow obviously is more similar to. So this Ravin was my first crossbow, but I'll never go back.

It's kind of the best of both worlds. I get to take advantage of a longer hunting season while getting the accuracy of a good slug gun or muzzleloader. I wouldn't think twice at shooting anything inside 85 yds.

I shot my buddy's Tenpoint which is also very nice. But if you're target shooting that crank gets annoying. I REALLY like the electric drive on this one for cocking and uncocking. I wish the new one I bought had it.

Does it come with the factory scope? Can the unit be used without the motor pack? I watched a review and the drive is very loud.

The bow does not have the factory scope. I took the burris oracle off it and put it on my new crossbow.

You certainly do not need to use the electric draw if you choose not to, it will work with the manual crank. And the motor goes on and off in 10 seconds, it's not a big deal.

In my experience, is it loud? Yes-I certainly wouldn't use it in a tree stand while hunting! However that situation never arose. I used it primarily when target shooting, which is really the only time I find the hand crank being tiresome.

When hunting, I'd always use the electric drive at the cabin before I left, and walk around with it cocked. I wouldn't nock a bolt until I was settled. Using the electric draw at the cabin, noise was never a consideration.

I had not been trying real hard to sell this, as I had someone interested that now decided against it to focus on other obligations.

I just booked a trip to Zimbabwe to chase a hippo and crocodile, so I'd like to get rid of this to recoup some funds!
