A habit left over from my 0331 days... I'm strong in my belief that if you actually know how much ammo you have, you don't have enough ammo.
However much ammo you think you need, double it!
I like the quote from the HBO series The Pacific, where Eugene Sledge ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Sledge ) asks Robert Leckie ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Leckie_(author) ) what he believes in (if not God)?

I don't shoot factory ammo except .22 Long Rifle, of which I have several cases because twice we've been caught in periods of non-availability.
For centerfire rifle and pistol, I procure a lifetime or at least a decade's worth of brass when or before i acquire a gun with a new to me chambering. I also keep a many years' supply of bullets, powder, and primers on hand. Why? Because like Leckie, I believe in ammunition!
