Pre-war WJ Jeffery 404 Magazine Rifle

I am rather late to this thread . The Jefferey 404 in your 2019 photos is glorious and with a matching case to boot . I have an original 1925 Mauser Type A magnum . It has the thumb cut out and stripper clip guides which appear to be operational . I think the Jeffery were simply the Type A refinished and rebranded . I have used stripper clips on my 425 & 318 WRs and everything looks to be there on the 404. Here are a few photos of the action.
Interesting on the stripper-clip guide feature.

There’s one on my 1942 Winchester .30-Gov’t-06 M70 (or “Pre-War” M70, as Winny collector’s term them). It was a hand-me-down from my Granddad, his deer rifle. It even has the old style lever safety on the top of the bolt shroud.

The stripper-clip guide actually works as designed. I’ve tested it repeated with NOS WW1 clips. They fit the guide slot perfectly and allow for very quick loading of five ‘06 rounds as fast as your thumb can press them down into the magazine. Pre-loaded with 5 rounds, the clips also allow for convenient carry in a shirt pocket, ready to go.

Meant to add these pics to my post above ... Stripper clip function on my 1942 M70:

Interesting. I have been shooting my 03A3 since 1964 and never noticed it had a stripper clip slot. Makes sense that it would have the slot. I just never noticed it. Springfield and Model 70 slots are much less obtrusive than Mauser. No hump.

The express sights of the rifle in the OP looked like a modern replacement. Not that it would at all detract from the value, cool factor and shootability of that magnificent rifle...

I have a question about your scope. Is the Innomount an SR-to-Picatinny mount?

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.

I saw your post regarding a hunt in Africa. I am sure you have been bombarded with messages and replies from other outfitters, so I will keep this one quick.
I have a feeling we have exactly what you need for a first safari.
