Want To Buy Whitworth SightHood

It doesn’t look right in the rack without it!
I just picked up an early Whitworth 3 days ago and it is older model and it is beautiful and I love the sights and the hood. Definitely higher quality fixtures! Ask for Mark, at New England Custom Gun Parts, he will have what you need. Good luck!

Mine is from 88. I would have loved to get an early example like you 2, but the price was right and it was the Safari configuration. I have always wanted a bolt gun with Safari style Isand Sights and have wanted a 375 for some time. Maybe some day it will make it to Africa.

My avatar buffalo is shown with my .375 Whitworth in Botswana.

That’s a fantastic pic.

I’m picking up some Woodleigh 300s to play with. Should be a fun summer.

I bought mine from the original owner, and I think it is a early 70's. It has really nice wood, no gaps in the checkering like the newer models, and the bluing is really lustrous. And etched on the top of the barrel "Whitworth Rifle Company" Also the action has none of the usual slop. It is a fine gun. It had that early redfield 1-4x I just sold yesterday on here, but in the process, I snapped the screw off the rear base. I guess after over 50years on it, heating it didn't work. It is at the smith now getting the screw out. I ordered talley signature bases for it, and I have a set of case hardened qd talley rings and a swarovski z6i 1-6 that is going on it. I will send pics when I get it finshed. Hope to whack a leopard and an Eland with it... lol

Please post pics when you get it sorted by your gunsmith.

My Whitworth. 458 is the best handling rifle I own; it just fits me.

NECG in NH. (they fly off too!) lol Before and After elephant in the wait a bit...IF you intend to shoot the gun, buy 2. ;) Also close it ever so slightly prior to installation to increase tension when installed.

Can the NECG sight hood, with window, be fitted to the existing Whitworth front sight base?

That’s why I was asking for the dimensions. Lots of different hoods out there, but the width of the cutout may not be compatible with he Whitworth.

Mark offers different sizes, use a set of calipers to measure the width of the sight. If I remember they are 6mm which is pretty standard.

An old gun like that I'm betting had Williams sights on it. Is the front sight blade pushed in from the side? You can order a hood directly from Williams Gunsight Co in Michigan. They are great people to deal with.

Of course. Call them yourself. You may have to send them the front sight, but I'm fairly certain they have them lying around. You used to be able to mail order 'em from Numrich in NY.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
