There is a lot of angry reflection going on here, good, let it continue. The next phase should be collating all of the lessons learnt and getting messages into the right hands. But for sure, for certain, Republicans will continue to lose ground if they go into 2024 in the same tired old way. There is a winning strategy:
1. Make the most of Biden's inevitable fumbling between now and then.
2. Underline every policy blunder the Dems make in bright red.
3. Use the Congress to make small gains for the electorate, not useless mega unwinnable battles against the Democrats.
4. Adopt early voting and mail in voting.
5. Start the 2024 campaign a year in advance, especially in the 1% margin areas, there were so many of them.
6. Get Ron Desantis nominated.
7. Replace Ronna McDaniel.

I’ll add another, get some new blood in the GOP. We need to play the game to win, within the rules, and the current cast of characters is stuck in the past.

You miss one important point. Primary voters of each party are hard core. If R they want the most far right. If D, they want the most far left. And the general election voters are left with no real choice. If the primary was today, Trump would be the choice of the R party, even with the mid-term losses.

Oldie but goodie, still true.

While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator (that may be redundant) was tragically hit by a car and died.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the Senator.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really? I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Senator.

"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course.

In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.

They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises.

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, "Now it's time to visit heaven...

So, 24 hours passed with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."

The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell...

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls to the ground.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders.

"I don't understand," stammers the Senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"
The devil smiles at him and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning; today you voted."

Is it just me, or is it also curious to anyone else that the last 2 election cycles, the last few boxes counted seem to break quite heavily for democrats.

It's been known that as long as there have been mail in ballots that Democrats prefer them to voting in person. And depending on the state they can mail them on election day and they will be counted as long as they are postmarked on that day.

This is where one senior Republican said that Republicans needed to get with the times and not just wait to vote in person. I dropped off my ballot 2 weeks before the election.

I also wondered about some in the Republican party telling others to wait for election day to go vote so that they could back up the system

We can keep complaining that the evil democrats are cheating - kind of like Bama blaming the refs when they lose - or we can figure out how to quit depending upon election day turn out to take us across the finish line and start using the whole voting period in every state. This is the second election in a row we have ignored this opportunity and seem content to bitch about "stolen" elections. Suspect we might want to try and find someone under the age of sixty with a bright new idea or two of how to organize a modern ground game.

What Joe suggested is not ballot harvesting, it’s about learning how to play within the rules to maximize republican participation. Continuing to do what you have always done and expect a different outcome is the classic definition of insanity.

Not much of one. I received an email from her campaign today looking for people to help "cure" mail-in ballots. Who the hell does her mail lists if I received one in Texas! Her opponent (and Laxalt's in Nevada) had union volunteers on this since the day after the election. It is perfectly legal in both states to "fix" incorrect ballots.

I said nothing about ballot harvesting. We need a ground game that gathers up the 40% of registered Republican voters ballots that didn't bother to vote in either state. The Democrat party has discovered that it is much easier to insure properly filled out and sealed ballots find there way to a drop box than it it is to convince some retiree to drive to a poll and stand in line for a couple of hours.

Or we can keep bitching about non-existent relevant cheating because it makes us feel better.
