Rifle rich and pistol poor...

SWAT in LA and OC sheriff departments are allowed to transition to 2011s, STI Staccato to be exact.
I'm talking about tier 1 Special operations that get down and dirty not a group of police officers that go on training exercises. It's an entirely different level of capability.

Look at FBI tests on denim etc..

I carry Hornady Critical Defense 90gr in my 380. In their testing through heavy clothing they report 10.25" of penetration at 15 ft. Good enough for me as a primary carry weapon. I've been thinking about experimenting with a larger 9mm now that cool weather is upon us but until then...

OK, DRUM ROLL, PLEASE....Having read every helpful post, researching every model mentioned (phew!) and shopping at well-stocked stores to see what pushed all the right buttons, I made a purchase today at Ray's Hardware & Sporting Goods in Dallas, TX. Many thanks to all for a truly eye-opening experience which will probably result in more purchases in the future--just for the fun of it! So, without further adieu, THE WINNER WAS...CZ 75 P-01 omega decocking version in 9mm parabellum. Came within an inch of Beretta 92fs. Best liked striker fired was H&K VP9. Smallest choice MIGHT have been the Hellcat. Most fun ever prevented by uber expensive ammo--Ruger 5-7 which still might come home with me someday. The one I wish I could justify heavy spending on--Sig P240 Hammerli in 38 spl. I can see how some of you acquired an obvious addiction--I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Congratulations and great choice (IMO). I have a 75D PCR , same basic gun except without the rail on the dust cover, and really love it.

Best regards,

Did you shoot any of them before buying?

Congratulations, you're addicted now. Did you buy a holster and magazines yet? Things are about to get very interesting for you.

Those are two of the firearms on my CCW permit as I mentioned above. CZ P-01 is a very accurate and fine firearm. Dry fire the double action pull a lot.

be just as selective and careful about your leather (or kydex) as you were about your pistol.. think about how you will carry most of the time (or whether you will carry)... how you will be dressed... comfort.. ease of access.. control.. etc...

Its easy to spend more on your leather than you did on your pistol if you don't know what you're doing and just start buying stuff... you don't want to drop $75 on a OWB strong side holster.. and then figure out in 2 weeks its not "right" for you.. and then drop $75 on an IWB strong side... then realize its wrong too.. and drop $75 on an appendix holster... then a SOB... then a shoulder rig... only to find out that an OWB strong side was really what you wanted/needed all along... but the make/model you initially bought wasn't quite right..

For me.. if going the leather route, the only thing I buy is Kramer horsehide.. Ive got holsters and mag pouches from Kramer that I have literally carried for close to 20 years that still look and carry as well as the day I bought them.. no stretching.. no busted stitches.. etc... and I have NOT treated them particularly well.. they have been sweated through on more occasions than I can count.. been exposed to rain, snow, dry heat, etc.. (traveled all over the globe for a few years using one of the holsters in particular on a daily basis)..

For kydex, I really like 2A Holsters quite a bit.. Ive got chest rigs (not for CCW) and IWB models from 2A.. super durable.. well made.. reasonably priced..

It is a shame Matt Del Fatti doesn't make more than what he does.

I sold both my 1911s. They had nice triggers but aside from that they were only good for practicing malfunction drills. Kimber and a Springfield.

The negatives of 1911s vastly outweigh the few positives. I'm not a glock fan boy, there are lots of good combat pistols out there but the modern 1911 isn't one of them.

I will now await my lashing from the 1911 crowd.

Cheers
I’ve seen a lot of single shot limbers.

This was my Kimber ultra Cary II 20 rounds after I got it back from Kimber the first time because it wouldn't run a whole mag without dying. Anyone notice anything wrong with it?

Looks like they shortened the barrel, slide and frame

The 2 piece guide rod broke in half and locked the gun up. Sent it back to Kimber again, they fixed it and sent a letter with it saying it broke because the gun wasn't properly lubed. I sold it for $300, bought a glock 30 and it works just fine. Kimber can f off.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
